No, but why would anyone run without AV protection. Madness if you ask me.

I don't have antivirus software installed

Because it's compared to a fresh install of Windows 7, didn't slow it down at all in any noticeable way.

Have you tried Norton 360 v4 ? Becasue if you haven't, you can't comment :)

No ~ i wouldnt touch it

But I disagree, if many people come on here (or indeed any forum) and tell us that norton slowed their computer down then I can use that information if I so wish

Then you are doing exactly what I said, and that is slating Norton due to their old software and ignoring the fact that they have improved it beyond measure. The only people on this thread that have used Norton 360 praise it, but people choose to ignore that and talk about 3 year old software instead.

You can try Norton 360 for 30 days for free, so why don't you give it a try and then come back and talk about it with some actual knowledge?

Of course you won't do that. You will use the old software...slow, bloated...blah blah...to justify not installing a Norton product on your system.

I got a Norton licence for 360 v4 on ebay for £29.99 for two years protection and it is the best thirty quid I have spent recently. The fact that Norton give you a free upgrade to new products within your subscription period just makes it even better value.

if it will prove one thing to me then im willing to try it, i have just reinstalled an OS from scratch on my pc, I havent got much in the way of other software installed and it runs pretty damn snappy, much more responsive than windows 7/vista and about on par with XP when i first installed it on this machine.

so i will download 360 v4 and i WILL give it a fair trial, the machine will not last longer than a week as im only testing a hard drive. but it should be long enough to draw my own conclusions.

    Good for you.

One thing, though. If you download from Norton's site, they will ask for your card details and you must then remember to cancel etc after 30 days.

    Download instead from here:
