I've got a Manc accent........which I don't like :( Don't get me wrong - I don't talk like one of the Gallaghers but when I'm annoyed or stressed it comes out even more and it's wierdly got worse as I've got older. Well-spoken folk and those from the Cheshire border southwards often like to take the pss a little but bizzarely I've worked places in Manchester where they think I 'talk posh' and I've ended up making an effort to talk broader to fit in!!

My favourite accent is Scottish. More Jean Brodiethan RabCNesbit you understand. But I also like a bit of Geordie too like, you know what a meen man?.

On the subject of accents - mine is a Jean Brodie as I'm from Edinburgh plus - my surname IS actually Brodie, och aye, Im the creme de la creme! On the other hand, my OH is from Glasgow and sometimes even I need subtitles to understand him! I love an accent of any kind!

Morning everyone!! Have crawled out of my pit of spending spree shame, still only at 7 NSD's but have managed to rein in the spending, the last 2 days have been essential spends :) Still haven't unpacked my shopping from Friday though - cant quite bring myself to get the bags out from under the bed where I hid them (from myself in shame, not OH!)
I'm from deepest dullest flattest mid-lincolnshire, with a dull flat accent to match!! its nice to know where you're all from - next time i'm tempted to go on a spending spree there will be a wide array of accents in my head!
Its a beautiful morning here and I've got the day off so off to make the most of it (and stay away from any shops) - have a good day everyone!

Tomorrow won't be an NSD, as I've decided to have a trip into town......
Change of plans as of 8:35am......

Got a text to say the App Foods order I placed last Friday is due for delivery this morning (between 11 and 12), so I'm staying home today - and hoping to make a start on my vegetable plot as the weather is reasonably OK at the moment.

Means trip to town is delayed until at least Thursday, as I've got voluntary work in the local primary school tomorrow morning (and if I go to town for the afternoon it means fighting with commuter traffic coming home). May put it off until Friday, as DS is at college on Thursday (meaning I can really get stuck into h/work) but doesn't have any classes on Friday (so I can just leave him in bed with instructions to get up in time to walk the dog ;) )

So today should be an NSD (may need some loooong screws for my raised bed construction, but am excluding all 'garden costs' from my reported budgets), and I'm going to try for another tomorrow and/or Thursday - though I'm more than likely to need milk one of those days (don't think the 3 pints in the fridge will last long, as DS - aka 'the milk guzzler' - doesn't have classes today either!) :o

    # 8 for me yesterday but not without hardship - had to steal OH's mother's day card that he'd bought and not posted to give to my mum as we were going over for dinner - how low can you stoop?! :o
Oh saorsie, very MS, but still a shocker!

I discovered I had nearly £20 credit with Moonpig, so was able to get some lovely cards for Mothers' Day and various birthdays......for no payment!! :rotfl:

Thanks for your good wishes solventsoon, not so streaming today...just a splitting headache and sore throat...with a hacking cough developing nicely  I am taking things easy today so hoping I am up to taking my friend out tomorrow for her birthday.

We were going to go to Ashwood Nurseries, to look at the hellebores...which are late this year, like all early
flowering plants. Not sure if I am up to a big trip tomorrow. I would have had a go if I hadn't been taking DS2 up to Scotland for his rugby training on Thursday. Think we might just go out for lunch nearby and have a trip in a week or two. My friend can't drive as she has had an op on one eye, and is waiting for a date for the other eye op. D**n this cold!!

I also had to miss a meeting today...so should manage an NSD instead...the only good thing about feeling c**p! ;)

Off to have a lie down, may do some knitting later...couldn't concentrate on my x-stitching today (not sure I cold even see it!).

Have a great day everyone...looks like the rain and wind are arriving on Thursday, so make the most of it!!

....I spend more than 15 mins or so talking to someone with a strong accent from anywhere (whether on the phone or face-to-face) I start to pick that one up -- and often worry they think I'm 'taking the P' out of them !!!
Yep--me too :D My dad came from north Devon, has rellies in Zummerzet & his sister moved up to Yorkshire in the early 50s. My mother's side are 'Ampshurr & we moved here when I was 8mths old, so I feel a bit like a voice on Spitting Image at family gatherings :rotfl: A lot of Sussicks folk pronounce 'th' as 'fffff' & add letters at the end of words, so they probably think I talk posh :p

Sounds like fun in your house Jinty :D but I think my favouritist accent is Zummerzet. There was a group on Scraphead Challenge called The Barley Pickers & their captain was truly mesmerising when he spoke--"prrowpperr jowb" :T
