So we’re coming up to the end of the first quarter of 2010 & Time is speeding by, but it doesn’t have to take our money with it! It’s amazing how inventive you get when you’re determined NOT to spend
from weird menu ingredients to surprising DIY solutions-- but you know what? 99% of the time those wacky ideas work
Many of us on The List have become cyber-friends & we have a laugh sharing our flashes of inspiration so if you haven’t joined in before, why not give us a try.
Do you fancy keeping the cash in YOUR account rather than giving it to the retailers? Are you saving for that something special? Then why not join us in this month's No Spend Day Challenge.
We are here to help each other avoid spending for how-ever many days you feel appropriate to your own situation, in order to take back some control over our hard-earned money.
[FONT="]What you class as a 'spend' is entirely your choice; some people will try to shop on the days DD/SO etc are paid, whilst others will not include essentials such as rent. Personally, I count a spend as any time I buy something, as opposed to the unavoidable utility bills & such.
So! Are we ready to do battle with all things Retail in order to keep the pennies in our pockets a while longer? Come on in & join the fun!
Good Luck everyone!
Here are some threads to help keep us on the straight & narrow & if you know of others, please post. Many of the lunch box ideas are aimed toward children but could easily be adapted for adults.

I've gone for 15 this month, as my Baby has a birthday towards the end &--fingers X--I am going to see the rellies :jHave to be honest & say that it wouldn't be happening yet if No1 Offspring wasn't keen to drive all that way [approx 950 miles just to get there ] thereby halving the cost of travel
so I'm just hoping our plans work out

Hi newbieish person here!
I'm in the 1st month of my DMP and my 1st month in 15 years without a salary. So its time to rack up my DMP days.
Can i pledge 20 please, as i will be house bound most of the time.
Thanks x0 -
Can I join in please? Now that I'm feeling a bit more in control of my finances I'm finding it difficult not to get too complacement and just spend £2 here, £5 there etc so I'd like to try and get a hold on this in March.
I'll try for 15 no spend days please. Not sure how I'll get on with this but I'd rather aim relatively high and see how it goes. Thanks.Debt at LBM (May 2007) - £32,891
Debt at 06.04.10 - £9158.57. Getting there slowly. :j

Hi there,
Can you put me down for 14 this month - going for more this time....well there are more days in March so shouldn't be a problem;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Can I go for 15 again please BigMummaF? Thanks for running this challenge - doing NSD's along with the grocery challenge really makes me think about how much I'm spending. My OH hasn't commented yet on the lack of food so he's obviously not suffering too much, despite the weird and wonderful meals we've been having to use the random stuff lurking in the back of the cupboard.
Good luck everyone - heres hoping for a sunny March after all this white stuff!Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0 -
Hi, i'm joining again, but after doing two months of NSD's i've really been evaluating how i spend, and i'm going to spend less by having less NSD days!
Explanation - mainly eat fresh food and found that by cutting down to shopping one day a week - food wasn't as fresh - so was eating not so healthy food!! So by going back to twice a week shopping - mondays and thursday - can still eat fresh.
Going to try and limit my spend days to these two days - but got daughters b'day this month, so reducing NSD's to 15 this month please and i'll hopeful;ly save even more money this way!!
Fingers crossed!!Loving life to the full, just need purse full too
