    Hello again,
Off to virgin mobile store this morning, got offered exactly what's on the T-mobile website for new customers despite being with them for at least ten years. Loyalty obviously counts for nothing!

You have to go through to the disconnections department if you want better deals....

Usually an option for thinking of leaving the network, click that and youwill go through to retentions.
Just a note on Virgin: I have TV, NEt and Landline with them; their actual services are awesome, but customer service is not the best IMO.

I agree with haveagoade, I'd been using WM phones from HTC ever since Orange released the original SPV until my last upgrade when I went for a Sony. The worst decision of my mobile phone buying life! Next upgrade will be in May and I will certainly be going back to HTC.
Many of my friends and colleagues have iPhones and I don't see why. They look nice, granted, but you can't have a spare battery, you can't expand the memory, the camera's rubbish and they're overpriced.
If you want a smartphone, that can do smart things then I suggest a WM or Android (Google) phone made by HTC and don't follow the drones that buy iPhones because they're shiny.
The HD2 is the best phone on the market at the moment. Period.

    Bit naive, don't you think?
The iPhone is quite obviously the most innovative phone of it's generation and type. Although it is aesthetically pleasing it is also has an extremely ergonomic UI and software that runs smoothly and gives great performance with very few glitches...

Given a choice, I think most people would pick a lower spec'd phone ( ala iPhone) over a phone which is loaded with features that don't work (N97).

The iPhone does lack some basic functions that you'd expect, but the core functions work flawlessly. The battery thing wouldn't bother me, as it'snot unrealistic to expect a user to change their phone every 2 years ( rough reasonable performance life of the battery)... it would be better if they made it interchangable though.

It may look good, but in general people get the iPhone because it has a great reputation for performance and yes, it is a status symbol, but it is only a status symbol because it performs so well.

Not to mention that it actually texts straight out of the box. :j
I don't own an iPhone as I think it's an overprice Piece of S*** and I ahte Apples price fixing marketing strategy... !!!!es me off!!!

Have you tried every phone that's out at the moment? It may be the best spec'd phone, but that doesn't mean it's the best.

Given that its an HTC I think you're probably right, but I'd also consider the Motorola Milestone, it has a better screen and a few other things, but the HD2 has a faster processer...

    Both phoners compared

I apologise if this seems like a personal attack, as it wasn't intended to, but I think it's only fair to give an objective opinion of the phones, instead ofjumping on the 'I hate the iPhone' bandwagon.

After contemplating the iPhone, I've been told about the HTC Hero! I'm struggling to work out which one's the better phone of the HTC series:

    HTC Hero
    HTC HD2
    HTC Desire

The Desire looks as though the screen will readjust if you move it horizontally, just like the iPhone - but other than - can anyone give me a quick pros and cons of the phones?

    Much appreciated,

    Toby

HD2 if you want windows mobile

    Desire if you want Android.

Both have auto rotate so the screens will rotate.

Did this first time, no movement on the deal whatsoever, asked for a pac code and was told I would be better to call on last day of contract and then there would be no extra charge so decided to hold off on that. Got new HTC HD2 from Virgin later that day and phoned back to get pac as I wanted to get on with using this shiny new toy. Got a different person this time who was a lot more amenable to offering a better deal, but I had to tell him that I had already signed with a new provider. I'm afraid after the rotten deal I got last time I just wasn't prepared to give them any second chances, couldn't be bothered to haggle as the Virgin deal was, in my opinion, pretty good.

Yeah, that's the frustrating thing... you have to ring up several times to get a good deal, totally depends who you get through to. :)

    :)

    VS the Symbian system?

Well, they both work, so they beat symbian....

Winmo: Compatibility - everything is compatible with windows.
Android: Open source, also tipped for big things.

I'd choose android if I was you.... it's going to experience exponential growth in the next year, it'll definitely be on my next phone; unless I like the new iPhone.

Well - it seemed that both systems had their pros and cons - but I do like the Desire, and it seems that it's going to be released over the next couple of months on the major networks!

I'll probably go into a shop, to have a play with one and see if it's to my liking.
