Great just what I need. Am on train - am at Eastbourne. Localised flooding means the potential for delays and I just want to go home....need to do shopping, washing, start essays and then have a shower.

And I'm still missing Pint :(

Too right you will! Not the ideal way to do it but I went from 10 to 16 miles in a fortnight and I didn't find the difference too extreme - not like the difference between 4 and 10 if you know what I mean? If you build up slowly you'll be fine.

    elfen, where did Pint go?

    Hope everyone is okay?

Becks - bloody amazing running, you are a machine!

Snags - how on earth did you get to 9 miles already? I really need to get my finger out and up milage... it's getting annoying now, seeing everyone progress week on week and I'm still fannying about at 6 miles. Someone boot my !!!! please!

on another note, i had a lovely date with a new man at the weekend... sweet, and a bit shy, could be a grower! lol!

Mazzicle, Pint's gone skiing and I couldn't take the time off uni to go too. That and he said I'd hate it as they can all ski and I can't. OOh new man, tell all.....

  • SRM - it didnt work out with GM cause he was away again, and he wasnt particularly nice when he was home briefly...

not letting the grass grow under my feet anyway! lol!

Pint/Squizz - nothing much to tell at this stage... the date was good... a nice walk, a nice meal, good conversation, and even some nice quiet non awkward moments when we were in the car, really quite perfect... the only thing that was lacking was the snogging! lol!! not a whiff of a snog!! just a wee hug and a kiss goodnight... and that was painfully shy to get to! He is a shy bloke though i think (altho he is coming out of his shell now in some of the things he's saying bytext, lol!)

Will be sure to update as things develop, without going into too much detail of course! lol!

Oooh, date sounds good! Sweet and shy on the surface can hide a whole WORLD of things! :D

I just had a really good phase with the running and felt like I could go further and further, did a few 5/6/7 milers, then went out for an attempt at an 8 miler, got a bit lost and ended up doing 9. Was surprised it didn't kill me! But seemed to recover quickly, and it's always a little bit easier the second time!

Need to do a lot more of the longer runs, but it's difficult, time-wise.

Have also lost my fear of hills finally, and ran up some pretty vicious ones a couple of weeks ago. I just took it slowly and did have to slow to a walk at times, but felt so proud when I got to the top!

You might not have done the distances you are hoping for yet, but your speed has increased loads, whereas I am still VERY slow, so it's all swings and roundabouts really.

I sometimes try to get someone to give me a lift, say, 8 miles from home, because I find 'just running back home' easier mentally than running 4 miles in one direction knowing I have to come all the way back.
