hey there
i have to say i don't normally read the debt free diarys purely coz they bore the hell out of me but this one is entertaining and keeping my attention...the reason why? Because u are right at the beginning and whilst things are slowly sinking in there is this whole other side plot with ur GF who IMO is leaching of u big time and will carry on doing this untill u put a stop with it. I also think u let urself have to much access to cash and thus spend willy nilly, did u really need to goto iceland or cud u have made do with the stuff thats in the cupboards?
as for the meal tonight mate, take a tenner out, leave ur card at home coz then u can only spend that £10!

Thanks for the replys.:T :T
Got up pretty late today, about 12ish. Feeling a little rough still. Had some more Ibuprofen and smoothers. Also wishing I didnt have to go back to work tommorow
Anyway my plans for today are;
Firstly, Im going to make a nice bacon and mushroom sandwich
Then a shower, clean my room. Lurk around on here for a while, then going to meet a mate for a drink and summit to eat. Will try to keep it as low spend as possible. Then meet my gf, may get another dvd to rent as there only 99p and come bck home & relax for the rest of the day. Pretty boring really.
Feeling a little down today, as I recieved a few letter from companies I applied for training with saying they can help me as im 19
Sucks big time. Feel like im going no where again. Hopefully things will get better over the next few days :rolleyes: 0 -

She disnt have a job, so dont think she is leeching off me. probably me just spending too much on her. Which is starting to stop. She also has a full time job now. She knows my situation and is fine about me not spending alot anymore, apart from on bills. She is willing to help me if need be.
As for Iceland, I probably could have done with not going there to be fair, just wanted a few snacks. For work and home.
Today, Im only goin up to one of the abrs where they do 2 meals for £5.75 or something, So hoping to only spend £1 or so.
One other thing, I think I egt my money spending from my dad, Because before my parents split up. My dad use to spend alot on us, spending money didnt bother him. Fair enough he earnt alot, but he spent it like there was no tommorow. I feel I have got like this from seeing my dad do it, He has calmed down now though. Dont see him that often either anymore.0 -

hey there
i certainly believe that spending can be genetic and that family traits can occur, whether they be bad or good. You need to address this spending and why ur father was spending on u, was it to make up for lost love etc, was he away freom the family to much etc etc and then u can readdress why u spend!
As for ur GF i understand that if she isn't working then the onus does come down on you a little more but its the small things that take the liberty such as her using ur bus pass that other week? and now she is earning what u gonna do if she expects u to carry one spending on her like u have done...what if she says 'i don't earn as much as you?' what will you do then. As an idea why not work out roughly what u spend on ur girlfriend each month when she wasn't working and then make an effort to keep 75% free for the end of the month to hit the debts with or to save and spend only 25% on ur missus as she is now earning?

Not really sure why he spent alot on us other than he could and he liked to. Obviously loved us. We went on lots of holidays too. Not really away from us, did work Monday - Saturday until 5 or 6 each night but nothing drastic, maybe he felt like by speding alot on someone, hes showing them that he loves them alot. I feel like that sometimes.
I let my gf use my bus pass because she didnt have any money at the time and it would have cost me to pay for her bus anyway, so she used my pass. Maybe im too nice for my own good, by me being nice im getting into more debt. But I can definately see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things are starting to change for the better, my gf knows how things are going to be when she starts getting paid and shes going to have to deal with it. Ive been good to her for the last 11 1/2 months, so she'll have to live with it from now on.0 -
hey there
thats good mate but the real test will come when there is some event on that u both want to goto and one of u cannot afford it, will she be willing to pay for u like u did for her on the last rave and if she cannot afford it what will u do, pay for her again? (i would hope not!)
good luck mate

Uh-oh - is that an expensive anniversary I see coming up?
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
