  • Hi there

Stumbled across your thread and just wanted to say well done on tackling your debt and good luck.

It's easy to spend £200 on a weekend, but if you want to get rid of your debt, that'll have to be a very rare occurence!

A minor tip: if the glowsticks are a regular occurence, a friend of mine buys them in bulk online. I don't know where, but a quick google for "glowsticks" showed a company offering 50 for £20. If you're feeling cheeky, take a few extra to the rave and sell them ;) (I have seen people out doing this!)

    Cheers

I do mean what I say about knuckling down over the next few weeks/months and paying off my debts. But will go out as a reward so I dont get too down> but will work it out so that Im paying my bills first and partying with what ever extra cash I may have. I seriously want to be out of this situation, this is one of the events of the year and Im goin to make the most out of it :)

'extras' ?? I think I know what they are

Dude, you need to get a grip. Last time I logged on you'd just spent £300 on a weekend, now you're planning to spend £200 - you are not serious about sorting yourself out and that's seriously annoying for those of us on here who have tried and are trying to help you.

If you want to spend £500 in two weeks on going out and getting high then yes it is your business, just don;t come on here bleating about wanting to get debt free.

Those of us who really do want to get debt free have made major lifestyle changes and gone without lots of things, even thing others might call basics, to do it.

I really don;t want to come on here in a week's time (I can only log on at weekends) and hear you talking about another night out that will cost you hundreds of pounds.

i know this is harsh, but if you were here in the room with me I'd be giving you a slap round the face. Get a grip!

And by extras I dont mean drugs, im not into drugs. I mean food, pictures, just bits and bobs.

As for spending this amount, Ive been saving for this event for the last 3 months and intend on enjoying myself. Also last weekend was my gf's 18th birthday. A ONE OFF. So you can hardly say I don really want to become debt free. Because I do but im allowed to enjoy myself and spend money that I have earnt if I so wish. Also I have said a few times after this weekend, Im going to be working hard to pay off my debts. Is that ok.

It's just my reading of your thread, that's all.

Maybe it's cos I am p'd off this weekend - I have two projects to do for work in my own time (extra pay), one by Mon, one by weds, PLUS a shift at my other job from 9 tonight till 3am, AND I still have to do all my housework, go to Tesco, etc.

Mind you, I definitely wouldn;t want to go to that rave anyway, thiry seconds of that music on the website was enough to make me go mad!!

But I do think you'll regret having spent £500 on two nights out a bit down the line.

I might regret it in the coming months or so but later in life I can look back at this weekend and say I bloody had a good time though. Its what I enjoy doing, so its worth it to me. Maybe not at the minute but this is a one off event, a must go to.

But will really work hard to be debt free, I promise YOU in paticular.

Hope you have a good weekend, try not to get too stressed out by it all.

OK, I do still look back at a certain concert I wwent to and smile, so maybe this is your equivalent. But I didn't spend £200 on it.

So that you know why I am so het up about this, £200 is just over 13 weeks worth of food for me on my budget! That's over three months of groceries!

I hope you have the best time EVER to justify all that money! Enjoy!

    Thank you.

I wouldnt be spending so much if my gf had any money, She only started her new job on Monday so dont get paid til Next friday. Plus she wont let me go without her, So muggins has to pay

I will enjoy it though & hopefully I'll spend less than £200 ;)
  • I'm sorry but your description of your gf potrays her to be mooching off you.

My ex ripped me off chronically, leaving me in serious debt. When I met my partner last year I was broke and coundn't afford anything, but rather than asking him to pay for everything (or even letting him pay for it) I asked that we changed our lifestyle so that I could afford to contribute. When I couldn't afford to pay the rent I cleaned the house for him and got temporary work around my studies so that I could buy food and pay bills etc.

Now I am earning we do thing perhaps we couldn't in the past like occasionally eat out, but we take it in turns to pay, even though he earns more than me.

Maybe I am wrong and misread your description, but I don't believe that being hurt by an ex requires being lavished with gifts to feel good with your new partner.
