I live in hatfield and im staying in a house which is newly built and far away from the o2 exchange centre. Im paying for the home broadband of £7.50 a month for 8meg however I am only getting like 1 meg. Has anyone else been in a similiar situation and whats the best thing to do?

Im in a 12 month contract and the broadband connection is terrible all help is appreciated cheers

It is likely to be terrible with most suppliers if it is a distance issue. What speed does the BT site say you can get:

I checked on the BT site and they estimated our broadband speed to be 3mb after I entered my landline number in

Then you should be getting faster with O2 - what did they quote when you first signed up?

What is your line attenuation? You may find your internal wiring is slowing down your connection. Post your line stats and we can see.

Are you suing the O2 router or a different router?

If the O2 router what is the error message that you're getting?

If a different router what one is it?

You need to be physically connected to the router to get the line stats. When you get back to hatfield you can try then.

Just to confirm, you are on the O2 Standard LLU service-not O2 Access (non LLU)?
If you are on the Hatfield exchange then that is LLU'd for O2.
Are you connecting wirelessly or by ethernet? If wireless, the first thing to do is make a temporary ethernet connection and retest your speed.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
