Getting married in Oxfordshire

Do you mind me asking how she is price-wise? I've only had one quote so far from a florist and was really shocked at how expensive she was
Umm, I told her how much I had to spend and what I wanted and she told me what I could get for that - it seemed to cover everything I wanted!
Caswell House looks amazing, am dead jealous - we couldn't quite stretch to that... I live very close to it, would have been dead handy, you can practically walk there from my house! Are you marrying in church or at the venue?

I know, I'm incredibly lucky, we couldn't afford it when we first looked at it but the OH got a pay rise :j:j:j:j
We're getting married at the venue, they are working out how to do the ceremonies using their outside space, I'm very excited :T
Where abouts are you getting married?0 -
We are going to go over to inlaws village, so The Five Arrows in Waddesdon. Very lovely and we know it well. Outside Oxfordshire, but only just so we are using people local to us here through word of mouth, all so far will travel 30 miles. Dead lucky OH's cousin is a wedding photographer, he's only charging us £300 and we get everything he takes on CD for that.... Doing makeup myself, I've got short hair so it doesn't needs hairdresser on the day, my usual is doing it 3 days before cut and colour... Not long to go, so really should start organising stuff!

I don't know much of Waddesdon except the manor, but the bits I have seen are lovely! You're very lucky, especially with the photography!
I do find time is quite sneaky and disappears very quickly when you're not looking and before you know it you've lost a good few hours or days...0 -
if anyone in Oxfordshire is looking for a bargain photographer I saw this on the banbury sound website
http://www.banburysound.co.uk/club/vouchers/voucher/88-off-professional-wedding-photography-124/
88% off so you get the £840 package for £100 (within 100 miles of Banbury)
Just a shame we have booked ours already!!0 -

Who did you use? I am getting married in Streatley, Berkshire and then having my reception back in Oxford.0 -
I used Croppers in Bloom in Theale. They were the cheapest quote I got and I got quotes from didcot, abingdon, oxford, and theale x:heart2: Got Married on 30/4/11 :heart2:

I will definitely be getting more quotes- just need to finalise exactly what we want first! I always thought they would charge roughly the same for florists but clearly I was very wrong!
It's well worth shopping around! We found that some were literally twice as much as others - but the service offered varied wildly, as well...In the end, we're using Daisies in Jericho - they were one of the more expensive we talked to, but really seemed to "get" what we wanted.
We're after something quite modern, quite striking, in a moderately specific colour scheme...We spoke to some who just didn't get the colour scheme at all and kept recommending *really* wrong colours (I'm a boy...and even I could tell it was all wrong)...we spoke to some who just seemed too "think too small" for what we wanted...and we spoke to some who said "modern, contemporary...great! I totally get it! We could put loads of bows on it and make it really pretty and countryfied!" (eh?)
The best thing about Daisies, though, was just the feeling that nothing seemed like too much trouble...it was always "we could do this..we could do that....if you don't like the colour, we can just spraypaint it something else...we've got all these different things we can use for you..." - Just made us feel like we'll end up with really special flowers that will be exactly what we want.
To be fair, none of the places we spoke to were what I'd call "cheap" - so if I'm having to spend that much money, I need to spend it with someone I trust to do a good job...0 -
Ideophreak - glad you got your florist sorted
For that amount of money like you say - you wnat to trust them to get it right. x:heart2: Got Married on 30/4/11 :heart2:
