Do let me know how you get on at Lains Barn would be interested to know. I looked at the swan at goring yesterday but it is quite expensive.
  • Hi primmer
Was the swan expensive? I looked at that but didnt find out the costs, out of interest how much was it?

I emailed 35 venues on Friday! Gradually getting the info together and shortlisted the following:

    Hawkwell House Hotel
    Steventon House Hotel
    Milton Hill House Hotel
    The Vines
    Shillingford Bridge.

We are looking at laines barn tonight (full report to follow - i promise) and Donnington Valley tomorrow

For wedding breakfast which did include quite a bit it was £85 per head. They do cheaper all in packages for limited number of guests if you get married on thurs, fri or Sunday but they include having your civil ceremony there too. Their prices and what it includes is on their website.
I looked at website for Hawkswell House last night and it looked nice.
  • Ill have a look - but your right - that does seem a bit pricey.

There were not many pics of the grounds at Hawkwell. Im going for a viewing on saturday so will report back. Have you got anywhere in find yet that you might go with?

  • Hi sal,

My mum and stepdad had their reception at Coseners too :-) we are hoping to view that one but not sure of the size - we have 65-70 for the day and 110-120 in the evening.

How did you find Hawkwell House for a venue?

I have looked at the website for the Springs Golf Club and have made some enquiries with them by email - has anyone been booked the Springs or been to a receiption there?

  • Hi Primmer, I used to live in Bicester and looked for venues in oxfordshire but found them to be quite expensive!!

A few friends had their receptions at the Banbury House Hotel which was nice.

Another friend got married at Silverstone Golf Club and I don't think that was very expensive for them.... I don't know if that's too far away for you though?? I found Northamptonshire is slightly cheaper... But not by much!

The most beautiful venue I saw was Tythe Barn between Launton and Bicester and it was Fab!! But it is very expensive!! My other half knew the caterers there and still couldn't get a discount!! :(

Sorry it isn't much help! Lisa x

I second that quote, over £11k just for venue, drinks and food!!!

Whittlebury, near Silverstone is very nice, and not too badly priced, but that's going further afield

Same as Cherwell Edge Golf Club, very reasonable priced, but just off junction 11 of the M40

Tally Ho in Arncott (near Bicester) again seems reasonable, they have a wedding fair there 7th March, if you fancy a nose
