WHat are wombling points? Is it when you collect thrown away receipts and ask for the points to be added?

Got my first till spit from a self scan yesterday as well. Was 100 points for a Telegraph - a bit of a no brainer if paper costs 60p.

Good point - was everyone's till spills the same today ? or are they geared towards what you purchase ?

I think it depends what you buy.

I bought tesco's own dishwasher tablets for ages, then stopped because I got Fairy gel pack thingies which have lasted 3 months.

My last till spit was for 100 extra points if I bought Tesco's tablets.:D

Today I got a nice one, spent just over a tenner in a small store (not a Tesco that stocks clothing) and got 250 points for spending £10 on any clothing. Glad I haven't bought anything for our hols yet, £10 should be easy to spend in the current sale (minus money-off coupons of course!).

I got the same one last week...really handy - just when I needed new shorts & t-shirts for DS2:D

You have to buy the exact item named on the till-spit and hand it over with your clubcard to the cashier (don't know about self-scan, I don't use it). Then you will have the points added to your total (shows at the bottom of your receipt).

You will get your next Clubcard vouchers in August I think (correct me if I'm wrong), I think the cut-off date must be end of July for points to count for that mailout.

P.S. In answer to a previous post, wombling points are exactly as you say, receipts picked up in the car park/on the ground. Look for a bar code at the bottom and 'SIGN UP WITH CLUBCARD' on it. Also make sure no-one has scribbled or initialled in pen across the barcode (means the points have already been claimed by a fellow womble). :o

I got married and changed my name on my Clubcard before spending my personalised points vouchers. The till assistant refused to accept them as the vouchers were printed with Miss Maiden, while my Clubcard said Mrs Married.

She called a supervisor over who said I couldn't use them either. Luckily I had my debit card in my married name and my credit card still as my maiden name, so I could prove I was the owner of both names. They accepted them then!

I worried about this too last year as I had just received my vouchers and then updated my clubcard. I phoned the helpline and they said the vouchers were linked to your clubcard number so it wont make any difference, and she was right it went through ok.
They shouldn't of done this to you, I would speak to someone higher up and complain about the embarresement this caused you in the store.

BUT!!! Be warned, I got a letter from Mr T today to say that they had noticed a high number of manual points adjustments on my Clubcard. Reminded me that points are to be collected at the till, but if I have any probs (e.g. have I lost my card?!) to let them know!!!

What? Never thought they would do that... So how many receipts have you had added then? ;)

Funnily enough, I've had loads of manual adjustments on my card recently, mainly because some of my extra points vouchers never work! Just recently I had 200 points for buying £8 of kiddies' clothes, and it didn't scan, so had to queue at CS.

Hi Dormouse, the truth is I can't remember how many points I have had added, sometimes just 25 points or so but several times! One store never crosses through the barcode and hands your receipts back, so you can go to another store and get the adjustment done there too. Oooops, too greedy and too obvious if the adjustment total is the same....

The letter came from Dundee (Head Office) seemed to be a gentle warning so I will heed it, can't risk my points!

But I will still add worthwhile receipt points to my Mum's card every so often, I buy her vouchers from her for more than face value, then exchange them for Days Out Deals for my family. Mum would only spend them instore and I can't have that waste of vouchers!

I don't think it matters when you are asking them to adjust the odd 200-points token that hasn't worked, I do this too, they often don't work. Just think carefully about whether it's worth picking up that dogeared, tyre-marked receipt for just 3 points (12p in Deals)!!

No wonder you are getting letters!
I'm sure the barcode on a receipt that has not been used with a Clubcard is unique! In fact I cannot see why it would be accepted into the system (when adding the points) a second time!
