Treasure-hunting at home challenge

Hi All,
I am an erratic poster but avid reader and read this thread in bed this morn and felt inspired so thanks. here's how far I have got today
Tidied sons bedroom and found bottom for a drawer hidden behind wardrobe, fixed drawer so now have somewhere to put his t-shirts - does this count?
Gave a load toys away to a little boy so he got some treasure today
tidied bathroom cupboard and found a huge plastic lidded box with loads of rubbish in but also 1 full bottle deodarant, shower gel, deoderant stick and handle for door (this will be fitted today). The box i will use for shoes in the hall way as I had planned to buy something similar this week. This leaves another huge cupboard free which I am going to use for bedding saving me buying another box this week which again I was going to buy.
DD1 room, 2 x torches, 2 x scissors, a leather miniture type suitcase thing which dh is going to use
All in all a good day so far, will post rest of my treasure finds later today.
I think someone on here was looking for a peg basket, if you know anyone with a baby girl you could ask if they have any old dresses and just hem the bottom and stick a coat hanger through neck and arms.

Finding a drawer?!! Well done - and lots of other goodies too.:T I love your peg basket suggestion:D0 -
I recently got back into cross stitch but couldn't find any of my books or equipement. Eventually found a shoebox full of threads and Dd gave me a free baby box she had with trays in so the threads look very organised now. Then while flipping my mattress I spotted a box under the bed full of my cross stitch books and 2 big pieces of Aida - so am now all stocked up.
Thats the trouble with having to cram Dd and her life back into our house, everything got stashed out of my craft room ( only had it for 6 months:( ) but having a new grandson to knit and stitch for more than makes up for the chaos

Lots found this week:D
A huge packet of staples found in the shed!
Two knitting pattern books that I thought were rubbish, but now want to make loads of stuff from them - fickle me:rotfl:
A pair of bed-socks I'd been given and forgotten about. I know it's not bed-sock weather...yet
A large bag of lavender that I WILL use to make Christmas gifts
Keep digging girls and boys0 -
budgeteer, well done on your treasure hunting, your home must be looking very tidy now.
I have just finished crocheting all the squares for a throw for my bed made with tiny oddments of yarn from my stash. I still have to join them all together but other than that have empty fingers. Sooo, it's back to my stash where some 4ply wool is lurking, so will start a cardigan.
Today, I found 2 tins of tomato soup in my winter emergency box, they're a tiny bit out of date but no matter.

My home is tidy-ish:p Well done on your crochet. I starting to crochet squares using my rather substantial stash, but I got too bored! But I do plan to use up some nice yarn leftovers for little bags and purses. However, I have a list of knitting projects as long as your arm and they all require buying lovely new balls of wool :rotfl:bellaquidsin wrote: »budgeteer, well done on your treasure hunting, your home must be looking very tidy now.

Fascinating thread :j
I've foraged through drawers and blanket boxes recently and found loads of stuff I forgot I had.......some has gone to the charity shop and some will be 'recycled' as pressies..........it's amazing what stuff we seem to hoard.Today, I found 2 tins of tomato soup in my winter emergency box, they're a tiny bit out of date but no matter.
Bella.
Interested in your winter emergency box........what else have you got in there ? I was thinking of filling a little tool box with 'stuff that people run out of' -including us..........batteries, candles in case of power cut, string, sticky plasters, blu-tak(has loads of uses) -stuff like that.............wanted to give one each to my sons for christmas -they're grown up now but like us they always find they've not got something when they need it.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Not quite treasure hunting, more changing the use of no longer needed throws.
When we moved needed new sofas for our much larger room. Old small ones (falling apart anyway) completely clashed with carpet so bought some cheap throws until we could order the new furniture. Afterwards turned the throws into curtains as a termporary measure as I wanted some good quality thick ones & didn't want to rush into getting them.
So many people commented how nice they looked that they are still being used as curtains now, 2 years later. To think I was originally looking to spend £200-300 on curtains. That was pre MSE days though.
Now I am very much into what else could that be used for.0 -
While I was sorting out my pile of wool I found an 11oz baby bottle - saved 4 quid as DD needed a bigger one for Dgs. Have been knitting Beartix Potter toys for Dgs's new bedroom and knew I had a Jemima Puddleduck 3/4 finished - no I have 2 of them!! Going to start upstairs tomorrow.Clearing the junk to travel light

mary-op my emergency box contains candles, matches, a wind-up torch, a wind up radio, the old land line phone because the cordless wouldn't work in a power cut and of course the soup to reheat on my camping stove - kept for such an emergency. It's all a bit hyperthetical really because the real emergencies usually involve the things you never thought of.

When tidying out the freezer, I found what MUST be the last bag of tomatoes from last year. Even in a spag bog, the difference in taste was unmistakable.0
