my favourite treasure is the patio
I know its a big thing to find - but we did just that
we dug up the cracked concrete for the old garage base and under it were a skip worth of broken bricks - all sizes shpes and conditions but obviously left when our old house was built
we could have tipped them - but we made a patio - all pieced together and they look beautiful - perfectly reflecting all the colours in the house - and we even used the real rubbish for hardcore underneath - its a huge heatsink keeping us warm all summer evenings - looks beautiful - and only required a bag of cement and a few broken fingernails - lovely

The above post got me thinking about our old magazines at home. Anyone still buying expensive craft mags, yet still have old ones buried somewhere at home with lovely projects in?

    G'won, have a rummage! :)
I didn't buy them in the first place :p Don't know what they're called but I'm guessing you can g00-elle, but I'm sure I've seen shopping bags made from strips of magazines
My hunting has confirmed a niggle I'd had for about six months--I found a gift card I'd had for crimbo, & it may have been 08 at that embarassed.gif A few chewie things for Pup, lots of essential paperwork to be filed & almost a wheelie-bin of envelopes & crud mail recycling.
OddSock Mountain is baying Everest for the tallest peak & The Offspring think Mum's been on a spending spree & treated them to 'new' t-shirts :shhh: There's something to be said for buying prezzies in the Sale & putting them in a "safe place" even if it's soI safe that don't know where it is

    Hi BMF,

Are these similar to the bags you've seen?

P.S. Whilst having a grand tidy up a couple of weeks ago, I filled a swing bin liner with DH's odd and rejected socks. Not bad for a man who's never got any... (rolleyes)... and jeans, argh!!!...he was muttering about buying some as "he hadn't got any". I saw red and went through his wardrobe and drawers. There were 20 pairs, some unworn,.

P.P.S. Congrats on the gift card and sale items. One of the many reasons I love my wood burning stove is the short work it makes if the junk mail :) Really must do some filing...:o

What a brilliant idea ginnyknit. :T What size do you cut them up into? Do you have any pictures of your creations?

Even old vests can be hidden treasure!

I will take a pic tomorrow and pop it on here, I cut strips about half an inch wide and spiralled round the vest so they were as long as poss. I just crochetted in Dc and added a new peice and worked it in as I went. It came out really nice. We do pass on as much baby stuff as possible but these were just a little faded.

:T They look very similar & a lot easier than the ones I was thinking about, but I've got a feeling these others were a cross between a weave & papier mache..if there is such a thing!
My neighbour couldn't find a hat in the colour she wanted for a wedding, so got some white netting & fashioned a flower shape, stiffened it with sugar water & dyed it in black coffee :rotfl:She also crocheted little 'flower pots' from white cotton & shaped them around jam jars, stiffened them with sugar water & then put in little bits of that florist foam to make table decorations for her daughter's wedding. They mixed fresh & artificial flowers & it looked very effective.

    Hi All,
I am an erratic poster but avid reader and read this thread in bed this morn and felt inspired so thanks. here's how far I have got today
Tidied sons bedroom and found bottom for a drawer hidden behind wardrobe, fixed drawer so now have somewhere to put his t-shirts - does this count?
Gave a load toys away to a little boy so he got some treasure today
tidied bathroom cupboard and found a huge plastic lidded box with loads of rubbish in but also 1 full bottle deodarant, shower gel, deoderant stick and handle for door (this will be fitted today). The box i will use for shoes in the hall way as I had planned to buy something similar this week. This leaves another huge cupboard free which I am going to use for bedding saving me buying another box this week which again I was going to buy.
DD1 room, 2 x torches, 2 x scissors, a leather miniture type suitcase thing which dh is going to use
All in all a good day so far, will post rest of my treasure finds later today.

I think someone on here was looking for a peg basket, if you know anyone with a baby girl you could ask if they have any old dresses and just hem the bottom and stick a coat hanger through neck and arms.
