She has been unfaithful and I need to leave - I need advice

Hi,
My partner has been unfaithful and I need to leave the relationship. Problem is I am claiming Employment Support Allowence but living in her house, and thus getting her mortgage interest paid through the claim. The claim is for both of us, but it is me who has been awared ESA.
I actually have my own house but did not declare this when I claimed, and I am now worried that if I leave the relationship, I won't get my mortgage interest paid and may even loose my benifits.
I seem to have got myself in a right old muddle and I could really do with some advice.

so did you lie in order to keep your benefits?
if that is the case i would say you have to lie in the bed you have made - so to speak!
sorry not much help!:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0 -
no I didn't lie, I just not sure if I should have declared it. At the time of the claim my mother had just died and I had just lost my job, so my head was up in the clouds.0

what is the situation with your own house? is it rented out, is there a mortgage, who has been paying the mortgage0
-
My sister has been staying there and paying the mortgage0

You need to contact the JCP and be completely honest. Your sister has in effect been paying you rent, and this should have been declared.
It is likely that there will be a compliance investigation because you have withheld information, but honesty is the only way forward.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Now that you've gained your freedom you may find you quickly lose your freedom. Then again, unfortunately, you are not likely to be locked up even for such blatant fraud.0

The OP has a mortgage, he would need to claim SMI.
The issue is that he has chosen not to notify the JCP that he has property, and that he has been receiving an income from that property. This is a compliance/ fraud issue.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Well I seem to have got myself right in the s**t. Thanks everyone so far for your advice. As is stands I'm going to ring JCP and tell them everything because I have had some real bad stuff happen to me, and I don't want it to get worst.
If anyone else has any advice, I would really appriciate anything constructive.
In fact I am so worried what is going to happen to me. I have had a string of bad luck and this seems to be my mistake and already suffering from depression and anxiety, am at a loss.
dmg24 - not what I wanted to hear but good advice. Thanks0 -
It is quite clear that a fraud has been committed and lets be hones,t you knew that.
That is a separate issue from your GF/Wife/SO having a bit on the side and you need to treat the two issues separately.
Do you want to still stay with this woman? I mean, does she have any redeeming features? Is she fit/good looking/good cook..?
Dont just stay with someone out of convenience.
If you need to leave then leave
Deal with the other issue when youve left then the problem will loo slightly more manageable.
Dont get stuck in an analysis is paralysis type loop.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
:rotfl:so an attractive liar who cooks well would be worth staying with? some blokes......C_Mababejive wrote: »

presumably if the mortgage is in her name then the claim for benefits to pay the mortgage was her responsibility. as such, is she not equally culpable in the fraud? bring the cheater down with you, i say! Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
