Hello all
My radish are growing well, when do I need to repot them?
I was going to put them in a grow bag, would this be ok?
Also would I be able to leave everything in the greenhouse when summer comes, or will it be too hot?
Thanks

think i have managed to save a few of the seeds but other ones i have lost ... so it couldve been alot worse have set out a spreadsheet to be filled in just need to go and do my homework...
am enviously reading alot of your posts ...things are starting to grow shoots are appearing ... and i am still sitting planning ... men ... maybe next year after he has eaten some of the produce he might not mind if i start growing things inside0 -
I had put in parsley and other herbs on kitchen windowsill in pots. The parsley looked like it was doing well, with one leafy stem coming up right in the middle and nothing else around it. There were new wee seedlings coming up today which looked different. All was revealed when I decided to pick off a leaf to taste and see if it was indeed parsley, and it stuck to my sleeve! It wasn't parsley at all, but sticky willy!!!!!! And I have been lovingly tending to it, turning it every other day etc!
For those who don't know, sticky willy is a local name given to that fun weed that you can throw at each other and it sticks to your clothes. Well, we have fun with it anyway lol.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Welcome to silvertoes and toni_
wssla00 - your lettuce looks great!
toni_ : I grew peppers indoors last year and didn't get many fruit, was told that they need to be outside so the bees can pollinate them, or you have to pollinate them yourself so this year I'm going to put the peppers and chillis outside during the day and bring them in at night, just to protect them a bit.

AT last my potatoes are starting to poke through also I have seewtcorn, turnips, peas and butternut squash are through. I keep thinking they would never grow.
Glad it's stop raining here so I can get out in garden:j
Turbo - is it ok to sow butternut squash this early? My packet says May, which I did last year but got very poor results. When I read your post I thought that maybe I'd left it too late last year.0 -
I think I'm going to put the radish in the growbag in the greenhouse tomorrow. We are away next week so don't want to leave them in the peat pots.0

Hi all!
a quick update on the progress of my cheap buys...
Poundland 'Ready Steady Grow' windowsill pots - lots of small coriander seedlings, sweet basil a is bit slower, but the real triumph is the dwarf beans - they've all come up and are growing at the rate of about an inch a day! 7 ins tall now, I think I'll have to re-pot them, as they're a bit crowded already - but a good result.
Focus garlic seedlings (99p for a pot of 5) - they were about 6 ins tall and I stuck them outside in a big pot on the patio about 10 days ago. Now 9 ins tall and surviving the cold and rain so far!
Recycling baskets - I had a couple from when our local council replaced them with bigger bins. I've stuck an empty compost bag (turned inside out) in each and sowed some more carrot seeds. I knew I'd find a use for them eventually :-)
Carrots, potatoes, spring onions & flowering seeds outside in pots - I covered the pots with clear carrier bags to keep the cold out. Which was OK in theory, until the constant rain started. The bags are sagging and the rain is puddling in them, so the compost is getting too wet. But 99p Stores have started selling poly tunnel cloches, 1.5m long, 0.5m high, 0.5m wide. So I've picked one up and will pin it on to a bit of lawn (that is a bit mossy anyway, so won't be harmed) for a couple of weeks, stick some pots under the cloche and hopefully this will keep the rain off, and keep them warm.
and finally...I've also picked up some more Summer flower (annual mixture) and meadowland mixture seeds at 29p per packet from Lidl. They did really well in my garden last year, attracted lots of bees and ladybirds. So I'm going to add some more, and indulge in a bit of guerilla gardening. There's a public footpath at the back of our garden, and some of the verges look really bare. I already scattered some cornflower seeds from last year's Lidl crop, and I reckon some more wild flowers would look really good.
Happy gardening, fellow newbies!

hey guys, im new to all this grow your own business so if someone could give me some advice id really appreciate it
ive got pepper and chilli plants that are 2 inchs high now, i havn't got a greenhouse though so would they be alrite to put outside in the summer? and could my chillis stay inside? What else could i start off in my propagator? ive got loads and loads of different seed but i dont want to start anything off too early. Many thanks
Yes, the plants can go outside, how well they produce chillies and peppers depends on the summer we will have
Depending on the variety of your chilli, it might be better for them to stay indoors in a bright area. If they are indoors, you will have to pollinate the flowers by hand.
What other seeds have you got? A fair few things can be started now. peas and broad beans should be started. If you're growing tomatoes, you have to start them indoors now.0
