Over the weekend I've sowed
Chilli Pepper
Tomato
Dwarf Beans
cucumber
broad beans
nasturtiums
nicotiana
lupins
potentilla
cosmos
(these are all on the window sill)
Outside I've planted garlic and peas.....packet said sow them straight into ground, hope thats right.
Last year I potted some strawberry runners and have also planted 6
new strawberry plants into their new home.
Loads more to crack on with...will update as I go.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -

just things like potatoes in containers , toms , squash , courgette , strawberries , cucs , lol what do you recommend !!!!
potatoes in containers (you need to be getting your potatoes chitted). IF you're growing in tubs, then you can put them out in a few weeks when it stops frosting. but if any green shoots come up and frosts are still expected, cover it ALL (yes, including the green tops).
Tomatoes can be started indoors now, in small seed trays. I've never grown strawberries from seed (buy runners mostly and then take runners from those).
Squash, courgette, cucumber you can start in a few weeks, mid- to late march. They grow up really fast and you'll need to keep them OUT of frost.
what else do you like to eat? Only grow things you'll eat0 -
I have been to Aldi today and brought one of those small green houses we don't have a B&M down here so I had to pay £29.99 ah well I am hoping to move some stuff into it during the next few days.
We have a cucumber starting to shoot and some purple sprouting broccoli but nothing else is starting yet........ trouble is patience is something I lack
Well done everyone on all your great sowings I wish you all sucessRestarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed

Hi all
I'd like to join in too! I grew a few things last year mainly from plants I bought/was given - toms, peppers, courgette, herbs mostly.
This year I am hoping to grow much more from seeds - I've just sown some peppers, chillis, strawberries, aubergines, basil, chives, parsley, for starters. I am a bit worried that I've made the compost too wet. I do hope something grows & I can't wait! I'm not sure whether I need to keep them out of the light until they germinate or not?
I have splashed out on a cheap small heated propagator -I'm not really sure what I'm doing but have stuck some in there; others are in the airing cupboard.
I also fancy growing leeks this year -anyone tried these and have advice? My veges were all in pots/growbags on the patio but I am hoping to sort out a raised bed this year if I can get it organised in time...0 -
Hey Ladies and Gents....
Haven't posted in a couple of days...and I'm playing catch up!! Everyone seems so busy!
I took advantage of the sunshine in Bradford yesterday and started to plant my seeds in pots (the ones that require it) in the propagator....now sitting lovely on the window sill
I have my 2 types of toms, sweetcorn, leeks, brussells, corgettes, runner beans and cabbage.
I will be watching and waiting til that little green shoot appears! I feel like a proud Mum!! haha
Also, garden was dug up yesterday, turning the soil, getting it ready. OH had a field day when he found about 20 pieces of stone all scattered about! He now has enough to finish off the front garden wall!!!0 -
Have you seen those compost tumblers? I really fancy one of those.
I know what you mean Lynz but can't afford one at the moment, but they do look good.
Last year I got the Dig-In seeds and was really looking forward to growing the Butternut squash. I had great success with germinating etc & planted them in large planters. Had loads of flowers but the only squash that actually developed were: 1 about half the size of a normal BS and 2 very small ones.
The pots were in an area of my garden that gets the sun from about 11am to pretty late in the afternoon (I dont get sun in any area of my garden the whole day) I fed them, watered them (could I have over watered them?). Has anyone got any idea where I went wrong?
I really want to grow them again this year but with much better results! Any ideas please?
Thanks0 -
