Great video katholicos, you're garden looks great.
Have just finished pulling all of my beetroot to make way for my romanesco plants and have also harvested french beans, spring onions, spinach and salad leaves.
Unfortunatly I could no longer resist the three ripe tomatoes I found yesterday and have just shared the with the kids. They were great:TI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Well I'm swanning off on holiday on Monday (with my mum. DH and dad getting left at home!
).
Is it really sad that I spent this afternoon tidying the shed and writing a list of watering and feeding times for my veg? :rotfl:
And I have a tomato changing colour. I thought it was less green the other day! Now a lovely shade of orange... (No doubt it'll be ready when I'm away!) Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

Thanks Mrs Veg Plot and ZaraZara for your compliments about the videos!
Well today i spent a bit of time in't garden since the sun was shining and it was dry enough to actually be out there. Yesterday I harvested 3.5 kg spuds and last night i put them in the dehydrator and today i have put them in a large storage jar. What a good feeling it is to preserve one's harvest!
Picked a few ripe strawbs for the freezer...nearly enough to make jam now!
Picked some mangetout and also thought i would do a trial...i had some cabbages and sprouts growing in little 4 inch pots and don;t have any space left in my raised beds so i decided to pop one in each of the morrisons buckets i had spare. I firmed them in well and watered them and have now put some netting over them. Don't know if they will grow very well but since i had knowjere else to put them it was worth a go.
I had some spent potato compost to use so i just added some blood, fish and bone to it before planting the cabbages and sprouts. It's all trial and error veg growing isn't it?Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Hi,
I've just started growing my own this year, did charlotte potatoes in a bag, basil, peppers, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce.
i've did it all in tubs/ grow bags and next year have decided to dig up my small garden - approx 2m x 1.5 m and plant, broccoli, red onions and cauliflowers too. Has anyone heard about any offers on seeds?
Going to dig the patch this weekend in preparation. Not sure if you're meant to plant things before winter, or do seeds indoors and plant outside after the first frost.
Can anyone help?
JoNewbie. Really nervous but going to give it my best shot.:hello:0 -
Just saw katholicos's video and it was really really good, definatley something to aspire to. I'm quite limited with space but liked how you had lots of pots. im just renting and not too keen to leave my veggies for someone else.
Well done!Newbie. Really nervous but going to give it my best shot.:hello:0 -

Anyone got any idea what might be munching on my salad leaves and rocket - the leaves are speckled with tiny holes, a bit like someones taken a very small shotgun to it!(fairly sure it's not slugs), but there are no signs of eggs, insects or any sort of larva on any of the leaves.
They're still ok to eat, but don't look great when you're trying to impress your nearest and dearest with your green fingers.
Edit - I don't know if anyone remembers but I posted a while back because my rocket had miraculously turned into tomatoes overnight even though I've never bought tomato seed. I've been finding tomato plants all over the place since then, so I can only think that some of the tomatoes I've been putting in the compost bin have decided to do their own thing when I use the compost. Either that or I've got a tomato fairy. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Have made a lovely bright green soup tonight with spinach, spring onions, salad leaves and runner beans from the garden and some peas. I'm loving the benefits of grow your own. :jI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order
