Hey all.... quick question!
I have a green pepper plant and the flowers are coming out. Do I paint brush them? The plant is in the greenhouse!
hi wssla00, I don't know if you're supposed to paintbrush them, but I have been and there are baby green chillies and my first baby green sweet peppers today0 -
Busy today, but found some time to make our first ever batch of elderflower cordial thanks to someone's recipe on here (finally got some elderflowers in flower and hubby went up the ladder to pick them for me!) - won't find out how it tastes until tomorrow night but it certainly smells good. Seeds arrived from King's seeds (that was fast), potted up hollyhocks and have some more flowers sown for next spring (geum, oriental poppy, aquilegia and agapanthus) and plans for a flower bed to put them in. Hope they all come up
We've had a shower of rain this evening, and it's playing havoc with the neighbour's haymaking, but the ground really needs the water. The hens had forgotten that they get soggy and they've been standing out in the rain looking for insects on the "lawn" (I use the term "lawn" loosely since it's more buttercups and daisies than grass LOL!)0 -
I was getting all excited at one of my female flowers as the bulge at that back is getting bigger. Tonight however I was turning my tub around to check for slugs. Just as I was putting it back a courgette decided to show it's face. I found it hiding at the bottom of the plant and pretty much ready to be picked. Such a surprise, I thought the plant was at just the flower stage, it has made my day. DD's dinner will include courgette fried in garlic butter tomorrow. :j:j:j0

Is it too late to plant some 'french bean' seeds ??A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0

I watched something on youtube about checking when carrots are ready and the way they did it was to gently move a little of the earth around the top bit of the carrot (where the carrot starts going orange not the green fronds) just enough for you to see how big your carrot is getting.

I've been thinning my carrots out the last couple of days, you can just see them under the soil, when I've thinnned them out they are just like a thinner version of baby carrots and I've been eating them raw as they are so sweet and crunchy - yum.;) The rest now have plenty of room to get bigger for later in the year.
Made my Gooseberry Chutney last night - recipe says to leave for at least 4 weeks so sitting in jars waiting at the moment.
