  • Yeah, I really wanted some rhubarb to make some rhubarb and ginger jam. Hate how much sugar they slap in the supermarket ones, so I fancied giving it a go. Will probably just buy some.

I don't have much more than a yard with pots in it so I was a bit unsure on fruit simply because they all tend to need a year old tree/bush/cane and you can't harvest rhubarb in year one. Thinking back I should have got some anyhow and had this as my maturing year, wouldn't be in a worse situation this year and would be on the money next year. Oh well *sigh*

Can people please stop posting about the lemon trees lol I went and looked and my "wantsit" nerves are tingling. If i'm not careful I'll have the trees and a load of other stuff I can't afford lol

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

that's weird, maybe the soil is better in the pot, or could it be in a more sheltered place (warmer?)

soil in raised is bed is made up of top soil (base), layer of home made compost and Erin muti purpose compost on top.

The courgette in the pot is from Erim MP compost and some old compost mixed in, i would say neither in a sheltered place but both exposed to full sun.

Haven't posted for ages, but veg all coming on well.

Pots of potatoes just getting flowers and looking really healthy.
Have already had 2 pots of radishes
French beans, courgettes, salad leaves, carrots and silverskin onions doing really well.

Had an added bonus, as when we cleared away overgrown area under a scots pine, found 2 blackurrant bushes and a raspberry cane growing. Loads of bramble bushes but have cut most of them back.

Have tried several different types of tomatoes to see what suits the conditions here best.

    Strawberry tasting imminent:D

Citrus trees are sooooooooooooooo cute! All I have to do is convince OH that we'd rather have these than get beer to watch the football.

oops, finger slipped and accidentally ordered them.

Nevermind, with three footy games EVERY DAY for the next week or so, I deserve a treat!

LOL @ all you lot with your credit cards trying to jump out of your bags :rotfl:

It's lovely reading about everyone's successes. With 26 french bean plants in pots I have one tiny bean coming so far - am jealous of ausmummy :) I wonder if your courgettes near your beans are getting extra nitrogen from the bean roots.

We finally have rain today and the garden is getting a free water. I'm planning to sow some flower seeds and pick a load of rocket to make rocket pesto pasta for tea :)

Hmm I never thought about that with them sharing a pots. They are definatley looking a lot stronger than the ones in the soil. I also had a nice surprise when I had a wander in the front garden. Two courgettes that pretty much died of frost damage a bit ago have come back to life again. Maybe try not to check on them for a bit (your seeds may be a bit shy).
  • I saw the citrus tree post but have not opened the thread yet, simply because I daren't. Bad bad ausmummy :D:D

Cannot believe how big a couple of my potted courgettes are, like a post previous a foot wide and leaves actually bigger than my hands, the beasts!! Lots of little buds gathered around the main stem can only presume flowers but not sure at this stage, they must be though!

Off to look at the citrus tree post :o:A

What a busy thread this has been!
Ooooh, you lot are so naughty buying more seeds. Garnetlady said somewhere Thompson and Morgan have got 16% cashback now and it's just set me right off. I can't stop talking about and thinking about plants and veggies..

Opps, sorry! :D Not saying how many packets I ordered...

I think I'm going to be spending my time on the net today sitting on my hands so I don't accidently order anything! :rotfl: That's the one downside to me not working anymore, less money to spend! Just have to hope I win the lottery lol.

I'm not looking at the citrus links, nope...

MrBE - I'd love some rhubarb too. My parents have a plant though and I'm wondering if I can get a bit from that. (Very MSE, it can happen sometimes :p)

heynonnynonny, I really hope you get your greenhouse. I love mine so much that I quite often just wander in to look at everything!

What a miserable day it is here! I need to do some more potting on, but I think that'll happen in the shed, which is now finished and my potting bech built up. :T
 Mummy to an amazing little girl
