I have found that the stalk left behind just shrivels up, you can cut it back more. Strawbs are funny things, they don't seem to be that fussy when it comes to runners.

I have also managed to stick the babies with a bit of runner in pots and grow new plants, although not all of them took. I think people suggest attaching the babies to the pots while still on the mother, if you can. I am going to try this again, but later in the season.

Thanks! :) I'll cut back the runner when I get back home. The baby seems to have taken so thats good :T The baby has its own runner now! blimey, I'll be overrun with strawberries soon! :rotfl:

Hi, I don't think it's too late either. I'd love to sow some cucumber seeds but haven't left any room for them this year! Sowed some more spinach, beetroot, basil, coriander & salad leaves this week and the rocket is up already.

Hens got into the greenhouse again and demolished the rocket when *someone* left the door open by mistake :o

I had to do a hunt in the greenhouse last night after finding a slug in there yesterday morning. Found 5 more under my tomato plants. I really can't understand how they got the door open!

I didn't know either, so planted mine sideways (thin edge down & up IYSWIM). They all (only 4!) came up so must be OK. :j
