I would think they have been grown too hot and too close together, lacking light.
Stick them in a sheltered place, but where they can get a little wind, if you can, you need to harden them up a bit, then they can go out in the ground.
Or if you have a place like that in the ground now, put them in and hope for the best.

I'd go along with Lotus_eater, with regards to lack of light. I sowed butternut squash, pumpkins and tomatoes all in my kids playroom but left them miles away from the window, they all grew furiously, got really tall and went floppy, I managed to save the tomatoes by re-potting them.

I sowed some of the dig in courgettes about 2 weeks ago and they're going great guns, as it's so warm now I reckon you should sow a couple more just as back-up. I'm so worried about losing stuff I have back-ups for most crops!!!

Is it too late to sow some more courgettes, only one of mine has just germinated out of the 10 at moment. Should I sow some more or just leave it? only i really love them and they are so expensive to buy. Any help gladly recieved

No, not too late at all.

Thanks Megansmum! I do feel in awe at the knowledge of this forum! :T
I planted out my courgette yesterday in a BIG tub so hopefully that will start getting comfy and bigger! I also rescued a tomato and aubergine plant from wilko yesterday. Aubergine is indoors and the tomato went outside with the others with a cloche :)

On a side note - sweet corn has germinated and the in-laws are letting my dig up a bit of the garden that full of dead plants from years ago :T Its against a fence which Im hoping will help with any wind damage etc.

I cut the baby runner of the main strawberry plant, but wasnt sure if I keep the long runner bit connected to the mum plant or if I now cut it off
as its not connected to anything? sorry - a bit clueless! :o

    Glorious day already :)

    thank you

I have found that the stalk left behind just shrivels up, you can cut it back more. Strawbs are funny things, they don't seem to be that fussy when it comes to runners.

I have also managed to stick the babies with a bit of runner in pots and grow new plants, although not all of them took. I think people suggest attaching the babies to the pots while still on the mother, if you can. I am going to try this again, but later in the season.

How many courgettes do you get off one plant and ditto cucumber?

The courgettes I had last year gave about 8 per plant but I think it would have been more had they not been allowed to grow more than 6 inches or so.

Trying cucumbers for the first time this year.
