I have lots of ants crawling all over my raised bed! not sure where they are coming from. I did put some ant powder around the sides of the bed (outside) but that does not seem to get rid of the ones on the bed....
are ant a risk to my plants? if so whats the best way to get rid of them without using chemicals if poss?0 -

Get your bum down to wilko and get some from there for £1 something. I have done tons and still got loads in pack, takes about 14 days for them to shoot up, some are quicker than others.Kind Regards

Still got loads of seeds left, so I've set some more. Ideally would like 6 to work as plan on putting 3 per huge pot and wigwamming them up will look a sad wigwam with one plant on it :rotfl:Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0 -

I'm jealous cos I've still only got one for my wigwam :rotfl:
Think I may stick it in with my wigwam of peas to stop it getting too lonely!!!0 -
Thanks Mutley.
Unfortunately no money till next week so I'll probably miss out. I did have a look on the website and saw the individual lavendar and then noticed they have 2 for £3/£4, one three varieties of plant, including lavendar.... so I got a bit confused. Think the 2.79 ones are larger though....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I've been enjoying the garden and am really pleased to see things growing. Rather than add zillions of photos in this post, i'm hoping this link works so you can have a look around my back garden - it's a work in progress, almost exclusively fruit and veggie growing for me at moment.

Things have gotten off to a slow start due to the weather, but hopefully they should get going properly soon. Its my first year with a mini greenhouse so I'm wondering when I should put the tomatoes out there...think they're too small at the moment so I'm going to wait a bit longer. I must admit though - I'm a bit of a "try it and see" type of gardener (which probably explains the less than stellar results last year *lol*) This year I'm really trying to do a bit more research first
I like the try it and see approach too - that's the only real way to learn :T
With the weather forecast, I'd guess it's fine to put your toms out in the mini greenhouse (bring them in at night to start with if you can to help harden them off). You'd need to keep a close eye on the forecasts though, I don't think they would like temperatures under 10C minimum. (that's a guess!)
Thanks for the info about the Aerogarden - it all sounds a bit beyond me. Must admit I like to plant stuff in soil and get my hands dirty (not TOO dirty though - have to at least try to get the mud out from under my nails in the evenings before I cook tea)
Didn't have time to do much today, but tied the tops of some toms in and cut a huge load of salad leaves for dinner tonight. Lucky my hubby likes his veg :rotfl:0
