@ lynzpower...
My Patty Pan seemed to be on a bit of a go-slow ever since it came up, but I have now got all of my plants in my outside mini-greenhouse and it seems to be loving it... really pleased and can't wait to harvest some fruits (no sign of any yet though).
Also finally got one of my Black Forest climbing courgettes through after ages... can't wait to get this in the main patch.0 -
What a rubbish day
Got my slugtape from ebay - YAAY. Promptly sliced my finger open trying to flatten it onto the container
Still, Homebase had some bits and pieces that I wanted plantwise reduced due to neglect so I'm now the proud owner of a much bedraggled Rosemary bush (can't get mine to germinate) and a fourth and final tomato alongside half a dozen strawberry plants.0 -

First french bean coming through after days of moaning about not seeing anything!!:T
Eek, hope they're okay! And congrats on the french bean.
I've just been out to the plastic greenhouse to check on everything and I had to evict 12 slugs. *shudders* Blighters. Then went out the front to check on the planters (it's such a mild evening), and there are dozens out on the grass.
Broad beans are growing like mad, will think about potting them soon if they keep on like this. Will I only get 1 to a morrisons bucket or can I squeeze in 2? They're dwarf suttons btw. Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

WEnt to B and Q for some smallish plastic potting on pots and was completely unimpressed by their small array of products for potting on. Last time i bought my pots from ebay but i didn;t want to wait as i want some for tomorrow...anyway, i didn;t buy any from B and Q but i did purchase 6 for £5 small veggie plants. My aubergine is a nonstarter so i bought a couple of small aubergine plants, my peppers are slow to grow so i bought a couple of them and i thought i would try growing those golden tomatoes. Really good value, i thought. Everyhting else, i have grown from seed, and i actually felt a twinge of guilt buying these already started off!

Jobs for today:
Visit Netto - tempted to buy more cheap seeds at 19p a pack! Plus they have some Gaymers cider packs at £10 a go! (ideal to drink on a nice summers day of gardening). Then visit Lidl as they have some Lavender plants on offer, which will be ideal for the garden.
Cut grass
Plant courgettes somewhere!
But my part time gardening days could be over (or at least side tracked to evenings and weekends) as now have 3 job offers to consider for starting next month!0 -

Ouch.
It's no reflection on the green-ness of your fingers it is difficult to get Rosemary to germinate. No longer half of Optimisticpair

Sown in heated propagator on 14/3 in those seed trays with little individual holes. Potted into 4" pots on 22/3, potted up into bigger pots on 25/4 and gradually put out into final positions in greenhouse border & big pots over last couple of weeks. This is in an unheated greenhouse, but it's a big south-facing one leaning against a concrete wall which holds the heat at night (and I kept the pots on staging right against the wall to try to escape any cold nights. Think it must have been beginner's luck- this is the greenhouse's first year and it's been great so far.

soullessfire – we used to use Wickes a lot and they are a great shop, really sad that there isn’t one over here

Glad you got your beans to germinate in the end, I did mine in those seed trays that are divided into individual little pots in a heated propagator (took the lid off during the day to stop them getting too warm & wet). Got a really good germination rate and then I just potted the little beans into a big pot with a wigwam when they were about an inch high. You need to take care not to leave the compost too wet when the seedlings are small because they are prone to damping off, but once they get going they grow like mad – plenty of time to catch up. I’m risking two big pots outdoors since yesterday because I’m running out of room and they are getting pretty big!
Having just the same trouble with the rosemary as you! Lots of thyme, basil, sage but the rosemary is terrible, only a couple of seeds germinated and they are growing really slowly. I think it has to be worth buying the small £1 pots in the garden centre.
mutley74 – congrats on the job offers
Only managed to get some peas potted up yesterday (put them in troughs with 3’ canes made into a kind of tent shape – hope that will do!) and had to take the cover off the raised bed with the onions in coz they were pushing up against it. Then went to B&Q and couldn’t resist buying more seeds even though there’s nowhere for anything else – landcress & purple-sprouting broccoli *roll eyes*0 -
Any tips on blackcurrent bushes mine has lots of berries and is in a large pot about a foot round and 1 and a half foot deep but the berries are starting to change colour but as they do the split, thought it wasn't having enough water but water twice a day
Any Help welcome
Many Thanks
