Express & Star or Stafford Post?
I never get down to the car boot in Stafford, is it usually quite good for plants?
First time I'd been in years and there were 5 or 6 plant stalls with veggies and shrubs although didn't buy anything. Would not go out my way to be honest for a visit it wasn't great.
It was in The Sentinel, I'm up the road in StokeAhhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0 -
Hope you find something to cover them with, my cheap garden fleece is out and everything in containers stuffed into wilko greenhouse then the rest are indoors tonight!!Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

I've lost 2 of my pumpkins and my runner bean
We bought one of those plastic greenhouses, secured it down etc. and put the pots in there. A gust of wind took it yesterday and because of how the pots landed it broke the stems on the pumpkins at the base and completely destroyed the runner bean. I've started off some more but am a bit gutted because they have had 4 weeks of growing so I'm now behind.0 -
That's a shame, it's gutting when you lose stuff by blowing away or knocking it over
they aren't the sturdiest of things are they, mines been a bit the same, leaning heavily to the left but been lucky so far.

Outside temps - no idea......
Do I cover the whole thing completely or just the soil? And if it goes over the whole thing, how best do I attach it?
Why do places like Homebase never give you proper directions on their labels for where/when things should go....?!
The courgette plant is probably about 4 inches tall.... im going out in my fat pregnancy trousers and dressing gown to try and bring it back in! :T
gonna have a raid around and see what I can use......might be one of the well washed baby bedding sheets that I picked up from charity shop....
Cover the whole plant. IF there is frost, it's the exposed leaves that will be fried and the plant gets its nourishment from the leaves. So anything that will stand over the plant, bamboo canes, twigs, old broom handles, or a pot larger than the plant? Otherwise, cover over with a plastic box and then cover again with some fleece to keep the plant warm
Homebase aren't in the business of telling you how to grow things, they want you to keep buying from them
And invest in a min/max thermometer, it's a great way of keeping track what the temperatures are in your garden where you are.
Courgettes are tender plants (they shouldn't be outside until it's 10C day AND night time)0 -

*runs (well waddles off) in blind panic to save the courgette from near certain death*Wealth is not measured by currency0

It's still not too late to sow another one or two so don't get into a blind panic especially with a little 'un
totally true they go like wildfire IMO.
Mine is massive and the starts of the fruit are there but it ahs been baking hot here over the roof and im in a huge pot that ill get OH to bring in tonight as its chilly and wet, not a good combo for courges IMO. Hot and wet- yes, cold and wet , no. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
