totally true they go like wildfire IMO.

Mine is massive and the starts of the fruit are there but it ahs been baking hot here over the roof and im in a huge pot that ill get OH to bring in tonight as its chilly and wet, not a good combo for courges IMO. Hot and wet- yes, cold and wet , no.

Its just coz Im being a tightwad about it all.

Bought this as a young plant so if it dies, thats it..... not buying another one!

Courgee is now indoors in the kitchen, along with the other plants still in their seedling trays, but they're bigger than seedlings iyswim, young plants, I just havent planted them out yet :o

the carrots I've managed to put in our plastic store box which normally houses our black sacks for refuse collection. Now thats really sheltered from wind etc, is against the wall of the house, and gets the first sun, so will they still need something over them in there? The bin bags are all still in there, and ive put the plants behind them.....

    hey morpeus

hows it going - what are your patty pans doing?

I am really sceptical and confused about these and can see these going wrong.

Have you decided what you are going to plant them in - can you plannt them directly in your garden- or do you have a patio like us?

    Hi Lynz

One of my patty pans if doing great but the rest haven't come through yet.... very strange.

Not sure where I will plant it yet, my patch is only small so if it is climbing or can be grown upwards then might have space against the fence at back of patch. If not then might have to get a trugg (?) from Asda to put it in.

Will take some photos tomorrow in better light and post up.

Imagine giant shoe box with a hinged lid, about 5 ft wide, 3 ft deep and 3 feet tall....:rotfl:

Youll be fine to store them in there CAFC overnight until you get some net, if thats what you are asking, they wont grow in there permanently though as theyll need light!

Bitr confused what you mean here but hope you get what I mean lol

I had 2 types - I think I gave you mixed up, cant remember if I sperated them? they are yellow and green and have a feeling one is a climber and the other a creeper

NOt sure how to tell the difference at my stage though

Hi all, i started gardening about 3 weeks ago with the kids. I found this section in the forum and have to say its a fantastic way to get tips and hints from newbies.
So far we have planted spring onions, carrots, raddishs, turnips, peas, tomatoes, cucumber, sweetcorn, pepper, strawberries, courgettes, cauliflour and strawberries. I think this wiill be enough for the time being, i started hardening of the tomatoes, courgettes, strawberries, pepper and cauliflour but they seem to have gone limp, is this normal?

    Hi all!

Does anyone know what a 'truss' is when it comes to tomatoes?! Tomato feed in B&Q says to start using when the first truss appears and think it might be when flowers first appear?!? Just wondering if i need to water my tomatoes and cucumbers or to feed them as well.

    THANKS! x

    Hi All

Another Newbie here :D my DD (3) and I planted out first seeds a couple of weeks ago and we now have
1 healthy looking tomato plant (grown in a pot fron Asda)
Several sweet pepper plants in the one tub which need re-potting
15 very healthly looking Green Been plants
lots of Leeks, Parsnips, Basil and Broccolli and the carrots have just started germinating.

Next step is creating the container garden - somethings will stay indoors - I'd like to keep the tomato plant on the window sill upstairs as that is DD's 'baby' and I think it would fair quite well there .

Started reading the thread and will continue - next step for me is locating/buying stuff to plant into tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on :D
