  • Just watched it - all a bit skanky (the naff-ness etc!) but if thats what they really want and like, then fair play to them!! That last girl though, poor thing - you could tell she was REALLy regretting it at the end of the night.....and even that dressmaker (who lets face it must be making a MINT out of these dresses!!) mentioned that the girl looked scared and upset.... such a shame. And i am sure it said that she had only met the groom a couple of times......

She had only met the groom a couple of times, I think they said that they were engaged on thier second meeting? Strange but I guess it's how it worked.
Joan the last girl, she did appear sad but had got a job and saved up her own money so it must have been what she wanted?
  • I used to work at a hotel and we had a traveller wedding, it literally cost £1000's to put right the damage that was done. I think that was the first traveller wedding there for years and it was the last too - It might of been a small minority spoiling it for the rest but it wasn't worth the risk!
Just as an idea of the damage, chairs were broken, a chair leg was thrown in to the victorian original stain glass sky dome, plants from the lobby were found in the beds - with soil staining the sheets and matteresses, a whole table was stolen! Cigerette burns were found everywhere, over 200 glasses had to be ordered to replace what was broken/stolen. There were blood stains on walls, the DJ packed up after an hour after a drink was poured into his big speakers, then had to have people guarding his stuff so not to have it "lifted".
It was absolutely shocking!!! Never again, the said thing was though the family who were marrying were lovely, although scarpered after they saw the damage!

  • Notice how most of them look like Hollywood Dreams dresses?? http://www.landybridal.com/Product/nsort9-1.html

I wouldn't be suprised if the woman from Liverpool doesn't order the hollywood dreams dresses and just decorates them.

Has anyone here ever had a hollywood dreams dress?

It's nothing to do with discrimination. Hotels will take anybodies money. It's all to to do with past experience of damage caused.

I think that the woman who makes the dresses deserves the money she charges (whatever that may be...) because they may be tacky to us but they looked very well made and fit beautifully. The embellishment alone was worth thousands on some of them! It's a clever woman who can take a child's drawing and put it into practice!

I did have to laugh when Poor Joan (as she shall be known from now on- I want them to do a follow up and show how she's doing, I'm worried about her!) could barely fit down the aisle in her dress!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I absolutely LOVED this insight into Gypsy life.. it was fabulously chav, and fun, and crazy, and they have their own values and rules, and fair play to them..

I particularly loved big Paddy, the x champion street fighter, he was priceless..

Felt the young girl in the final wedding, had made a mistake, she seems to realise then, when she said, 'we argue, and stuff, it's not a perfect relationship, we have problems' and her husband just looked stunned, that she could say this, on her wedding day of all days..

She appeared to be swept along by the 'Dream', and dumped in reality, when the vows were completed.

    Wishing you the best Honey...

    wow the dresses were HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE!
heres a link to the dress shop featured
    http://www.nicoliverpool.co.uk/html/wedding.html

I was working nights last night and missed it! Is it on demand anywhere...?

I used to walk past this shop every time I left uni to go into town! I wondered of those dresses were 'for real' or just some crazy OTT publicity thing. Now I know they are, and some people actually want to wear them... Wow.

I was truely gripped by this last night. The moral code they instill seems very strong and they appear deeply religous. I did have a chuckle at the comment 'some of my friends are country people' (remind anyone of the 'some of my friends are gay/black/muslim' type of comment)
However Joan struck me as very scared and young, I was really concerned about her.
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
