yeah i thought it would be illegal for them to cancel, surely thats discrimination?
hard to imagine not trying before you buy etc0 -
I walk past that shop most days. The dresses in the window are enough to make your eyes water!0

I posted this in another thread as my GF knew a designer that made these type of dresses and some came in at £25k but these where Central London prices and the designer is well known for her wedding dresses.
 That's more than most people's whole weddings.....where do they get that sort of cash when as they said most are just casual labourers0 -
i think part of the issues with venues is what they said themselves- people aren't invited, they just show up, so this may violate numbers for health and safety. i'm sure there's a lot more too it than that mind, i'm just guessing that's one reason they can use.when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it0

I loved the programme too! I can believe some of the prices on the dresses, look at the amount of material that was used!!
Most of the bridesmaid dresses were hideous though - lime green and blue anyone?
The last girl really seemed like she didn't want to be married to that man, she seemed to have regretted it straight away - poor cow!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
There was a show just like this on a couple of years ago and it was just the same type of thing.
I don't get it though, they don't live together before marriage, they don't sleep around etc and yet they feel the need to dress like complete slappers. If anybody turned up at my wedding dressed like those girls they'd be shown to the nearest street corner!
I felt quite sad for Joan, she didn't look happy about it at all, it almost seemed like she'd been forced into it. She was probably old enough to realise it wasn't a fairytale whereas the other girls were just children and probably didn't have a clue what being married was all about. Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Just watched it - all a bit skanky (the naff-ness etc!) but if thats what they really want and like, then fair play to them!! That last girl though, poor thing - you could tell she was REALLy regretting it at the end of the night.....and even that dressmaker (who lets face it must be making a MINT out of these dresses!!) mentioned that the girl looked scared and upset.... such a shame. And i am sure it said that she had only met the groom a couple of times...... :eek:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0

Venue most likely used their 'right to refuse service' to get out of it but surely if there's a contract they can't back out of it just because they are traverliers.
If you think about it they only marry into the traverliers so their choice is very limited and they only met potentional husbands at gatherings so are going to dress to get the most attention. It's a shame really because they go to all the trouble to stay pure and all that but show no self respect to themselfs in how they dress.
Though I must say I liked some of the corsets they had but would never wear it to a wedding!:kisses2: Getting Married 5th November 2011 :kisses2:0 -
