    Afternoon everyone

Didnt get chance to post yesterday. Why when I have a day off does it decide to rain, yesterday was lovely but I was at work. Day off with ds2. Have been waiting for a delivery from Argos due to arrive today between 7am and 12, still not arrived:mad:, rang them and they said it should be here by 2pm.

Wm on, need to hang up later. Lunch was remainder of carrot and lentil soup. Dinner will be salmon, new potatoes, sweetcorn and peas. Need to do some more baking later, saved a recipe from this thread for Butter biscuits so may try them.

Had a call from DS1, he borrowed £10 which he used for his bus ticket this morning, driver didn't have change and he forgot to ask for it as he got off so I have to pick him up from work.

MSD - thanks for the link to the seeds yesterday. Glad to hear your friends are improving.
Molly41 - glad you are feeling better, hope your DD doesn't suffer too much:D.
Redruby - Your conservatory looks wonderful, I am so jealous.
Bitsy - Hope your DD mood improves and that she isn't getting a cold.
NPM - hope your DS feels better soon.
Jackieo - sounds like you had a fun filled day yesterday.
    Sandy71 - £3000 sounds excessive for fitting a boiler:eek:
jackieglasgow - hope the appt goes well for you.
Snoozer - Glad your mum is doing well and hope your appt goes well for you next week.
Taplady - hope the injection helps your DH.
Jc2703 - ((Hugs)) sorry to hear about your aunty. Had a giggle at your trouser incident though:rotfl:.
remmie - lovely to hear about your phone call from your "adopted" son.

Update - the argos delivery has arrived so need to get rid of the old mattress to the tip, it is not worth passing on as it is so uncomfortable.

Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone who needs/wants one. Take Care

    Afternoon all

Jc sorry to hear about your auntie

Well just to let you know that I have just finished knitting my first ever cardigan:j:j:j My new years resolution was to learn to knit and I guess that means that I can now do the basics, I am so pleased! It is now pinned out under a damp towel as per directions but I can't wait to show it off . I was so inspired that I took my self off to Aldi and bought some of the lovely wool in their offer. I was also tempted by the books (knitting, quilting, card making etc) that they have on sale and may yet go back for one.

The cold frames looked good too and were going like hot cakes, I could have spent a fortune in there this morning coz I fancied some of the fruit trees too (especially a plum one).

Have an appointment at the bank later today to have a "review" of our account etc. They usually try to sell us some more insurances when we go for these but I shall stand firm as I think we are well enough covered atm.

Just saw a weather warning on TV for more snow - mainly for you down south I m afraid - when will this winter end??????

Anyway going to look at my next project - I have an easy pattern for baby cardigans that DD has asked if I can knit for one of her friends so may try this next. I have also signed up for the next set of crocheting classes when they start ( around easter I think).

    Have a good day all

ladyshopper how did you get on at the docs?

Thanks for asking sistercas, thats really sweet. Wasn't going to post today as nothing interesting to say. Docs complete waste of time, he said it could be shingles except I didn't have a rash so it wasn't. Prescribed me ibuprofen gel, and handed it over whilst chattering on his mobile phone which he answered. I then bought the gel over the counter rather than on prescription as far cheaper. And yes, it still hurts, gel not helping at all. :o

Not sure what to do next really.

Snowing here, been to the library, and just about to tidy kitchen so we can do some baking. Son wants to do marble cake.

JC - so sorry to hear about your Auntie.
Remmie - that sounds like a great phone call, no wonder you feel so good.
Taplady - :eek:at gout, at least you finally have a diagnosis though.
  • Just having a coffee while DS watching a programme on tv.
Been playing games so glad of the rest;)
have decided to have more salad tonight with jacket pot, cheese and coleslaw. Trying to use up food in the fridge, cupboard and freezer as it is stockpiling:o
Very cold here and keeps snowing.
A bit naffed off with Ds`s dad. He has cut our maintenance in half as he isnt working at the mo, lost his job last month. His GF is 40 this year same as me...I cant afford to go away despite wanting to go to a nice hotel for the weekend. Oh but he is taking her away for her bday, probably using Ds`s maintenance money:mad:.
Have decided to stay here for my 40th and am already planning treats for myself like nice chocs, bottle of pink bubbly and a nice meal.
Taplady did the GP mention purines and avoiding foods with them in to prevent the gout attacks

I've not had time to read today's (or past 2 day's threads!) yet so hugs to those in need.

I had such a fab time at my best friend's wedding!!! She looked amazing, and it was a lovely, happy, fun filled day. She got fit of giggles during the vows! :rotfl: There was a swing band playing during the meal and everyone had a sing song, and then a disc and kareoke in the evening! I'm knackered now today, just got back home, having a quick catch up and a cuppa then will curl up on sofa for rest of day.

Very little OS planned other than loading the WM for tonight.

    Have a good day all

no he didn't say much about it but we have to wait until the results from the fluid have confirmed it.
The leg is feeling etter for having some fluid removed. He might have an injection in his elbow next week if the knee one works.

sorry to hear about your exOH and the maintenance x

it is not the drop in maintenance that bothers me to be honest.....its the fact that while pleading poverty he is taking her away for a weekend, having a holiday abroad and having a big wedding:o
Meanwhile I stay at home for my big 40 and have one weekend away at a farm stay for our family holiday and our little wedding (mind you thats my choice whether we had money or not:))
The halving of the maintenance has really pushed our already straining budget but we will survive!

NPM, will you & OH have a "holiday" at home when Noah is away with his dad? ;):p:D
  • Just got back from DGC sitting,I made a trifle this morning and just have to top it with custard. All from a value tin of mixed fruit in natural juice a cheapo jelly and some left over cake that was getting a bit dry.so its a really cheap pudding for a couple of days.:j
I also did some prunes and custard for pud tonight, I am having a bit of a mixed grill, sausage ,burger, beans, mushrooms and some left over potato.Burger & sausage from freezer, and mushrooms starting to brown and curl a bit at the edge, so had to be used up, and potato left over from last night.I am using as much as I can from the fridge and freezer to save me going to the shops this week.
I just got the confirmation for our cottage in the Cotswolds in April so I am cutting back by using up the stuff that I can.Only really have to buy milk this week as I have enough veg to last me till at least next Monday or Tuesday so tomorrow I will pop across to Icelands and pick up a 4 pinter for a quid.
My DD bought me a caramel chocolate bar yesterday, and I have put it in the freezer until Lent is over as I am swearing off chocolate till Easter,
no gin till then either:eek: Still it will be good for my waistline if not my soul:D.
Just going to go and put my feet up and watch a bit of catch-up t.v. and do some knitting.
    have a good evening folks
    JackieO xx
