Cineworld charge 80p per pair of glasses. Regardless of offers, £1 tickets deals etc unless you have glasses already you have to pay this on top of the charge. As far as I know Vue and Odeon don't do this, plus they are both cheaper overall. This is from experience in Sheffield anyway.
It's not a ripoff, they charge for glasses anyway, that's a ripoff yeah seeing as though they charge a lot more than other cinemas, and have more adverts and the seats are much comfier in Vue!!! But it's clearly stated so you should check!0 -

I wish that was the case where I live, there is a tub you can put them in for recycling but I refuse too as you don't have the option the next time you go to see a 3d film to not pay for the glasses.

Has anyone else come across this RIP-OFF
Cinema concerned was Apollo Redditch
Next time you have some Quality Street or Rose's chocolates, save the red and blue plastic wrappers from the sweets (remove the foil first!). Then cut a cornflake box into the shape of a pair of glasses and fix the plastic wrappers to the cardboard glasses, and in true Blue Peter style you have a pair of 3D glasses for free.
Will save you paying a whole £1.90.:beer:0 -

Maybe you could just wear your 3d glasses into the 2d film then!
The extra cost is not just for the glasses, otherwise you could just wear a pair at the 2d film to make it 3d. The extra charge covers the cost of the 3d film itself and the 3d projectors for which I have no technical knowledge, but accept that as a newer more advanced technology they must have needed investment from the cinema and so they pass part of this cost on to us. Think of it like the difference in cost between High Density Bluray and normal dvd, but for the experience I'm happy to pay a little bit more.
It's only a game

Yes that would be absolutly fine, but are you therefore trying to tell me that Odeon havent added some charge to the ticket price for the glasses you get to keep?
No of course not, there will be an added price for the glasses and a added price for the 3D screen etc.
I have no problem whatsoever paying extra for the screen, what I do have a problem with is paying for glasses everytime, as they do not give you an option to take your own glasses from the last time you were there and for you to pay less!Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

a simple answer is to not go and watch a 3d film, ive seen 2 and i have to say im not impressed at all, yes it is annoying that you cant re use your own glasses from a previous film but thats how it is0 -

Hmm, cutting the nose off to spite the face then??
Well I've seen a couple and I am impressed, I guess it depends on which film you saw?
The one I really enjoyed was My Bloody Valentine, 3D horror blooming brilliant!
Your missing the point of my post anyway, not all cinemas do this, reading through this thread other cinemas allow you to use your old glasses, it appears as though its just the odeon that doesnt. And all the cinemas apart from one (which is quite far away) round my way are Odeon.Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

Surely this whole thread is a case of "you pay's your money & you takes your choice"??0

I watched Avatar 3D with Orange Wednesdays... albeit the price was significantly more expensive (was around £9 instead of £5.50 ish) - Odeon.0
