DD & DS know that the reason we are being so careful is to help out DS when he goes to uni. We are hoping (chancellor permitting
) to give him £100pw.
I'm sure we'll be sending food parcels too - he'll live on milkshake otherwise  and 'Crusha' is not a balanced diet :rotfl:0 -

I had some bricks from a skip recently. I...er...knew better than to stop the car and ask for them when I had my teenage daughter with me.
But, on the whole, they're pretty good. Quite happy with ebay clothes, no concerns about charity shop bargains-they're not even bothered being *seen* going into a charity shop.
But they do know what it's for, and what most of the money saved gets spent on (them). We picked up our Womad tickets yesterday to prove it. In fact, DD opined to me recently that her friends, whose families have new kitchens and big TVs, but who can't find twenty five quid for a gig ticket, obviously choose to be hard up. I choked a bit and pointed out that was of course a choice the parents were entitled to make, but...thass my girl

It's funny, us parents put ourselves at the back of the queue for the 'nice' things, but it just seems to give us so much more pleasure to see our kids treated

I never buy reduced food, do not know why just never have. Even if buying somehting for dinner that night I buy the furthest date away I can.......
Well tonight I realised how silly I have been, we have new supermarket opened less than a mile from me a few weeks ago. It was great this morning popping in to get fresh baked bread for breakfast and instead of buying the big loaf which usually ends up half being thrown out bought a small one at 50p :rotfl:
Now decided to make lasagna for tomorrow night so "popped " over to get some mince.
While looking the girls said " heres some reduced mince. Could not believe it , use by tomorrow and should have been £3.00 and was 50p :T
So got 2 and decided to make a cottage pire for thursday as well and went for potatoes and bought the cheapest at 97p for 2.5kg and when I got to till noticed they was reduced to 40p :T
So guess who will be bargain hunting for whoppsees from now on lolTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
I used to be the same as you, then I saw the light as well, I now like to fill up when i can
Unfortunately my local supermarket bargains never seem to be as good as other people's:coffee:I need a proper cup of coffee in a proper coffee cup:coffee:0 -
I guess you just need to be in the right place at the right time lolTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0
