Supermarkets discounting their food discussion thread [merged]

Not had much luck recently but today Mr's T and S came up with the goods - not sure if the peking duck for £1.50 or the fillet steak for £3 will be our first treat but there will def be a couple of the 10p bag of 8 croissants for brekkie tomorrow.

I'd forgotten the thrill of a super bargain....has the first day of lent smiled on anyone else too?

    good bargain for 10p.

    i do mainly food shopping online of late and i do miss being able to get a super reduced item. It amazing some of the deal's. think last one i got was 6 free range extra large eggs for 20p box.

    mine was my chicken - not super cheap but it was originally £9 something (which i would never pay) down to £1.80 !!!!

    we had a result in Mr T yesterday, didn't get there till 9.30pm, got bags of baking potatoes @ 15p, loads of bread around 15-20p nice stuff, roasted chicken for the cats @ 70p. Freezer is full now.

    Last night I managed to buy 2 packs of cherries at 20p each(£2.50 each),2 punnets of nectarines 10p each(£1.50 ish each),1 pack of 4 sirloin steaks for 10p,stewing beef 10p,organic rump steak 10p,a large chicken 50p,2 bunches of asparagus for 20p each (£2.50 each)a large bag of organic potatoes for 10p.lots of speciality breads for 10p and danish pastries for 10p.I go into Tesco 3 times a week and they always have lots of bargains.I buy reduced things for my mum and two elderly neighbours who cant manage to bargain hunt,and my son who has left home and is finding things tough.

    Last night I had 5 packs of fresh cod in breadcrumbs for 2p each,with 2 pieces in each pack.SA offered them to me as I was walking around store 15 mins before closing,I was delighted and my freezer is happy to,lol x

    if only my local supermarkets did reductions like that!! If I go early evening then the reductions are rubbish and then if I leave it later all that's elft is limp, brown salad!!
  • I just got a bag of caesar salad - 40p down from 2.00, some tear and share garlic bread for 26p down from 1.50, and loads of posh jars of pasta sauce for 70p each from the 'managers special' section

    I just have a question about whoopsies. What day in a week can I get the most of whoopsies? Is seems that in big T there is not a lot of them:(. Particularly no any vegetable or fruit.
