How to get humiliated by your bank - by Jo_R!

All banks can be nasty, it's as though they think they can say what they like. I was in Lloyds once paying in 7 cheques (birthday ones) and the lady started saying I should have a business account if I was going to pay in such a number of cheques for that amount (it was around £500 - my 21st) and she literally went on and on, I even stated that three of the cheques from family were from the same surname as they were birthday cheques but she was having none of it. This was also in front of the queue of people! I can't even remember how it ended cos I was so embarrassed! After I went out someone who was in the queue said to me that I should put in a complaint as she was out of order but I foolishly didn't. I wish I had now!!!0

If I'm ever having these sorts of problems I always ask to speak to the Manager and usually they try and fob me off with the counter supervisor so I insist on the manager. After a while they back down as they'd rather let it go than interrupt his important meeting. If enough of us do this then they'll soon get the message...[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
Just wanted to add that my MP has sent a letter on my behalf to the Customer Services Team at the Halifax to investigate my complaint. Unfortunately I am rather behind on the letter writing due to baby arriving this week but am catching up as we speak!

Hi Jo -
Just found this thread tonight - congratulations on the baby too.
Halifax.... They are the worst... this is not an isolated experience - something very similar happened to me and DH not so long ago. They have staff who have no ability or humility to deal with customers - they do have some good ones too - but they are few and far between.
Sorry you had such an awful experience. Did you write and complain?
