aww sorry to hear
i would complain, theres no excuse for her talking to you like that in a public place in front of everyone
some bank staff seem to think they are better than everyone else
years ago i called the bank (from my work phone) over difficulties on paying a loan (my pay had been changed from weekly to monthly and i needed to change the date the dd came out) anyway after getting a lecture from the advisor (i had her on mute and really wasnt paying attention to her lecture anyway) i proceeded to let one go and tell her she had no xcuse for talking to me like that as my loan wasnt going to go into arrears i just needed a few days leeway on the date the payment was going to go out
so she said she would change the date
anyway fast forward 2 weeks or so, i checked online and there it was the payment came out on the orginal date called them back up, they had no record of the conversation
i was fuming
luckily enough my work recorded all incoming and outgoing calls so i did have a recording of the conversation
even better was i worked for a subsiduary of the bank at the time
so got a grovelling apology letter the date changed as well as the charges for taking my bank account into a unauthorised overdraft paid bank0 -

Yep, I should have asked for a private room to discuss things and normally would have asked for this. The reason I didn't was because I wanted to go in, get it sorted and go again. I realised from the moment she checked the computer and told me that there was "an awful lot of charges on there, really quite a lot" that I was facing a lecture and really all I could think about was trying not to cry, that I knew perfectly well I need to be in control of my finances and needed to sort my account out and didn't need to be told it. I felt like a little child and all my assertiveness went out of the window. I mean, I cry at watching children's tv with DD at the moment so what hope do I have?!

How awful for you; it probably felt 10x worse with all your baby hormones (good luck and best wishes by the way! xx)
Definately complain, write a really snotty letter - places always have signs up now how their staff are not to be verbally abused - so turn the tables and tell them customers are not to be lectured and verbally abused either. Its her job to help you sort your money out, not be critical of how you spend it

The way you were treated was disgraceful. I've had this myself, where the person discusses your financials at the desk in the middle of the bank, & I think it's totally out of order.
I always find that the top down approach works best with complaints. Don't write to the branch manager, write to the head of the whole organisation - the very top man. He obviously won't be interested in dealing with it personally, he'll refer it back to the branch, but you'll find you get a lot more attention from them when they get a message from the big boss telling them to sort it out.0 -
What a truly awful experience it must have been for you, How dare that b***h humiliate you like that in front of everyone. I hope you have her name and report her and the bank for this. Good luckxxx
Pattie:confused: you are as you are, if you aren't as you ought to be.0 -

Sorry to hear about your problems, try not to get too stressed out about it, that customer service woman is in the wrong job she should be working for the baliffs or become a bouner!!!!, shes a humilating bully, the only service she was providing to you with was "her opinion"(to check your account), she certainly wasn't an eager listener if you had already told her you did. That's not customer care, you should complain, complain, complain. Ring the bank or get OH to ring and get the name of the Branch Manager/Customer Services Manager and write to them direct, naming and shaming her for her "Bad Form".

It's not for you to ask for these things - you don't know what she is going to say before she says it - it is for the bank staff to offer this.
I can only echo everyone else - complain."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
Well next time, if they insist on speaking to you in a public area you could mention in a very loud voice that a lot of their bank charges are illegal and that anyone who has been charged £30 for going £1 overdrawn can sue to get their charges back.
See how quickly you get a private room then!0 -
Agree with all the above but also whats having a little one and being pregnant got to do with it? Surely that's none of their business? I bet the CSA was one of those "I dont want children" types.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

If i was you i would write to the bank manager and bank head office. Surely what the CSA was an extremely large breach of DPA espcially reading out what was on the statement. Also mention that the 'advice' they gave was totally unhelpful and humiliating infront of other customers.
Go through the proper channels and contact the ombudsmen and get the 'orrible CSA sorted out, snotty cow!0
