  • Halifax? doesn't suprise me at all. Friends of mine bank with them and have now been told that because they have a basic account they are not allowed into the bank to conduct any business. When they wueried it they wer given a lecture on not haveing debts and running their account correctly. Hence they changed banks asap

Oh, just replied to your other post- then saw this one!!

What a horrible experience - definitely complain (will probably be in a few weeks, eh?!!) and I bet just writing the letter will make you feel better. I agree with others who have said to complain, and also if we see anything like this, to complain as well. Shocking.

Sea xxx wishing you lots of labour vibes...

Hijack the following if you wish :-
    To whom it may concern,

I am writing to make a formal comnplaint against a CSA working in xxxx branch of Halifax.Insert name here if you know it.
I approached this CSA to reclaim some charges that had been taken out of my account over the past few days, money which i needed to feed my family.
Whilst I accept responsibility for running my account is up to me, I do not expect to be berated on the running of my account by a CSA in front of a whole bank full of customers and reduced to tears. To make matters worse, I am 7 months pregnant and have been having severe pains after this whole episode.
    This is clearly unacceptable.
The incident was witnessed by several customers, many of whom came over to offer me support at the way I was spoken to.
I now want the following to happen :-
    1) A full and formal investigation to take place. This is my right under consumer law.
    2) A regular update in to the investigation, with details of what is happening at each stage.

I also seek financial redress for the severe, traumatic distress I have been caused. I would be willing to accept my last 3 months worth of bank charges (change this to a set amount if you are already claiming them back) payable in to my account within the next 7 days.
I have also sent a copy of this letter to my MP and the Financial Service Ombudsman, and will be furthing my complaint via them, if i get an unsatisfactory response from yourself.
I am also considering informing the media on how the Halifax, with their new adverts for outstanding customer service, treat their customers in reality.

I wish to hear from you within the next 7 days.

    Yours Truly,

    Jo-R

This of course is just a rough idea, also, anyone else who may struggle writing a letter of complaint, if we can't help, can toddle off to https://www.desltoplawyer.co.uk where you can buy a letter of complaint, written by a solicitor for 2.99.
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

Might be an idea to mention the time and CCTV. There's then no excuse when they say "we only keep footage of when we're being unacceptable for 32.67 seconds so we have no record of you ever being there".

  • This is totally unacceptable behaviour!!

I would make a formal complaint and log ASAP. So what! You made a few mistakes but nobody should speak or act this way towards you especially in public and in front of other customers.

You pay these staff members wage at the end of the day and if it wasnt for you putting your money in their acounts, they would not have a job!!

This has really angered me....please do something about it.

Good luck with the birth and hope everything goes smoothly.

    Hugs hun.

Perhaps if you revealed the branch and the time and the date then some of us may take it upon ourselves to write letters implying that we were present and witnessed the episode!

  • Hope your feeling a little better, I feel so sorry that you have had to experience this. People seem to forget it costs nothing to smile and be polite to another human!!! It was up to the csa to offer a private room they have standards to keep in the area of privacy. If I was you I would send letter like MCBIRNIE25 direct to the Bank Manager but also CC in head office and see how they reply. It doesnt matter if we have minus number in our bank or a very big plus number we should all be treated the same. In a polite and helpful manner. Hope you get sorted. I am claiming bank charges back from the Halifax and i will do it with even greater pleasure now!!

At the end of the day we are customers and if any other company outside of banking treated us the way that they do then they'd go bust for sure!

Bear in mind when you are writing the letter "we give you extra" Extra what? Abuse?

Something I found on thier website

"We are committed to providing all our customers with excellent service, whatever type of relationship they have with us"

there must be leaflets kicking about with more details on about thier customer care policy
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
