The weird thing about Hamish is that he's like some sort of propaganda plant.
Why should he care so much? He's gotta be on the payroll.
He is clearly very intelligent but I'd be shocked if there weren't some sort of agenda behind his relentless posting.
And no, I cannot believe an estate agent or buy-to-let landlord would really be that smart.
What is in it for him?
Although it is a bit of a shame how some posters here degenerate into childish pointlessness, they only detract from the quality posters and should probably still be at school.Long live the faces of t'wunty.0

while this may be a blip it can wipe the smirk of hamish face and that... is more precious than any house price . .

I'm amazed people actually take these figures seriously. Just like the average price of a property did not really fall by 25% in late 2007 to early 2009 they have not risen by 10% since early 2009. The figures are easily skewed by low transactions etc. They are only useful for baiting and to those who like to say their house has gone up or down by X because NW said so. People only have to look around their local area read the housing forums to see how many houses are struggling to sell to see the market is struggling at the moment unlike this time last year.
The only interest I have in these figures is the longer they say they are falling the more realistic sellers will be about how much their property is worth and we may see some of those who have had the house of the market for 3m+ actually think about reducing the price by more than the £5 some have reduced by.
As for the weather its comical that people would think that someone would sell their house for less than it was worth because it snowed for one or 2 weeks in Jan. If someone cant come and see a house one week because of snow they will come back the next week if they are interested.0

I've thanked your post as your first two paragraphs are spot on. But I think the snow can have an effect. If you have two weeks where people can't really view houses and estate agents, solicitors and surveyors can't really get out and about and do their jobs then it will probably have a real impact on people buying and selling houses and would effect the figures somewhat.0
