Been a 3 customer since 2004, so phoned to see what dealz I could squeeze out of them. First round, after some haggling, got offered this:
300 Mix'n'Match + 1,000 texts addon + unlimited internet = £20/mo (18Mo.) Handset £150
500 Mix'n'Match + unlimited internet = £18 / £150 (18Mo.) Handset £150
He's noted the offer on my account. I'll try again tomorrow.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

The problem with Vodafone is that you only have 500mb per month of data, which is nothing on a phone like this, so you'll need to pay £5 a month more in order to get 1gb of data, which even then is not great in this day and age.
500mb is alot mind but it depends how long and how often you would be on 3g, there is a calculator on vodas site that tells you how much websites etc you can look at for 500mb data0 -

I'm on T-mobile so I get 3gb a month. I've had the phone since they first appeared, 18 days, and I've only used 111.66 mb. Mind you, I work from home a lot, and I've set it up to automatically use the wifi. I also regularly check what apps are running, and kill them with Advanced Task Killer.
There's also an app called 3g watchdog which will keep an eye on your usage.0 -
Just wanted to let you guys know that I got the HTC Desire on the contract below earlier today:
500 Mins
100 Texts
Unlimited Internet (1GB)
HTC Desire handset charge @ £115
£10 per month for 18 months
Total cost of deal over 18 months = £295
Good deal I think?0 -
i am with 3 (have 2 hand sets/accounts) and today their customer options helpline offered me 18month contract 1100 mins mix and match plus unlimted (1gb) internet / email / skype / windows live plus htc desire hand set for 20£ a month and £150 (for each handset) handset to be delivered on 20th april. but didnt accept the deal as that works out to 28£ a month and think there can be better deals elsewhere especially after seeing this thread. total cost £510 including phone cost for 18m contract for 1100 mix and match plus internet 1gb.LeeSouthEast wrote: »Been a 3 customer since 2004, so phoned to see what dealz I could squeeze out of them. tried numerous times sending the enquiry on the vodafone contact us page (link given in this thread) but keep getting the error message so gave up on that. was a prev vodafone customer with 2 handsets before moving to 3 network.
time to explore orange or Tmobile networks now i guess as not getting anywhere with vodafone contact us page as keep getting the error code and am not willing to pay the 150£ for phone at three.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

was that for a new customer?
if a pre existing customer of 3, then was that offer by their customer options team. apart from the 500 crossnet mins did you get unlimited 3 to 3 mins?
looks like a good deal.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

No I am an exisiting customer, have been with them for 5 years, I had requested my PAC a week ago and got a call from their retentions department yesterday. I don't think it includes the 300 3 to 3 minutes since I am keeping the same contract as I had before (£10 per month, 500 mins and 100 texts but they have thrown in the 1 gb internet).
I think the overall cost over 18 months being £295 is quite good compared to other deals I have read about, but of course it depends if that would be enough minutes/texts for you. They were happy to give me 1000 extra texts for a £5 add on, so £15 per month...but I decided I didn't need that.

I phoned up for my dad today and was offered a similar deal but he's on a slightly different contract with Three. £115 for the phone, I'm not sure what contract he's on but it's £15 a month. This was just through normal upgrades. The only thing was they wanted an extra £2.50 a month for 10mb internet usage which just seems bizarre to me. Obviously 10mb is absolutely nothing, although I doubt my dad will even use that (a Desire is completely wasted on him!). They said it was something that you had to have, perhaps his existing plan has no internet usage allowed? Any ideas?0

I just found some info about what the charge could be. In this day and age of "unlimited internet", the following seems pretty mental.Add Internet 10
Add Internet 10 - Gives you 10MB of open Internet surfing powered by Yahoo! and Google Search, so you can access mobile web sites and search the open Internet directly from your 3 mobile. If you exceed your 10MB monthly allowance you'll still be able to continue browsing. You'll simply be charged £2 for every extra MB of data used, this will be added to your monthly bill. Cannot be used with a PC where the handset is the modem.
I might have to phone them up tomorrow and tell them to go stuff themselves (even though my dad probably wont use it, it takes the p***)0
