I am on a £35 per month contract (T Mobile) which ends next month.
Do you think I could get it cheaper if I say that I will leave them?...0 -

Prepay mania arent amazing. I found pretty much the same price though at Play.com for the desire via mobile phone comparison sites.MoneyMonk - Its a way of life :beer:0

Yup the Nexus One and Desire is the same phone, both made by HTC. But as you said, HTC have decided to slightly revise the phone with FM Radio and Optical trackpad. I must say the optical trackpads are the future, RIM have started using them on blackberrys on the current models, they are so much better.
HTC are pumping a lot of marketing into the Desire, moreso than past phones. I guess they can afford to now based on the success of the G1 and Hero. I'm surprised google haven't recruited more networks to sell the nexus, not sure if its google's tough selling rules or the fact the networks are happier waiting for the desire to sell themselves directly.

It really depends on your needs really. Personally I don't think I would require Desire's high end specs and as a student, I think I can only afford Legend anyway
Plus, I prefer Legend's smaller and lush form. I'll wait till both of them come on T-Mobile and try to see the kind of upgrade/retention deals they can give me (I'm due an upgrade tomorrow. The most I can go for is 30 pounds a month, 18 month contract with a free phone. I think only the Legend will be available on that!).

I've finally taken the plunge tonight and pre ordered the Desire for £5.99 (that's five pounds ninety nine pence!) on Tmobile from mobilephonesdirect, 18 month contract, £25 a month, 300 minutes, 300 trexts and unlimited web. My current usage never goes over that anyway. Topcashback of £30 as well.
I understand that the web allowance is only 1gb if you order from a third party, and 3gb from Tmobile direct, but I can't wait as my old SE has finally packed up and I'm using an old battered N73 until I can get the Desire. I should get it on 2nd April (Easter Saturday!)0 -
I'm going for the Desire, my contract with Orange is up on the 18th March. Tempted to get a PAYG Sim on Virgin until all networks have the Desire and, then go for the best deal. Looks like a brilliant phone...0
