i received my desire from vodafone today. nice phone, but beneath the time display on my homescreen it gives my location but no weather update.....bit of a bummer as i thought the weather display under the time was a nice feature...maybe its just me?

Weather is only displayed for major towns and cities. Re-install the clock and choose the big city nearest you rather than 'current location' (a list of places it recognises will come up as you type).
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

HTC Desire- best handset ever... probably.. well from what I have read!!

Been offered 24 months contract on Orange via retentions, 900 mins, unlimited texts and internet, £27.50 a month BUT have to pay £24.99 for the handset. Not as good as I had hoped for - worse deals ever offered to me by them... although I do have six magic numbers now! Total cost- £685 . he said he has used all my discount on getting the handset down in price and whacked on 400 mins in talk time! I paid £20 a months for my HTC Diamond (when was 1st out!) for 600 mins but he could n't offer me any less on the line rental without the cost of the phone going up. I am having a think... wonder if in a week or two when the rush has died down if there will be better offers... or at least when it is on their flippin' website. Rubbish. They don't care if you have seen a better offer on T-Mobile it seems- perhaps because of the merger?
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!

My advice would be to call back and speak to somone else. When I first called today the guy wanted £99.99 for phone which went down to £49.99,after a bit of a grumble he put me through to "somone higher up" who may be able to do the phone for free. The next guy offered phone for free but on exactly the same tariff I'm currently on,works out £36 a month.Wasn't happy with this also and basically told him I'd probably go down the PAC code route.
Once I got home I looked up the offer I was given on the xperia X10 while waiting for the desire. They offered me the x10,600 mins, unlimited data, unlimited txts for £27 and a charge of £49.99 for phone, but the guy advised me that the x10 was a more expensive so I'd be better waiting for desire and getting a better deal.I called back again(this was around half hour later) and asked why the deal on the desire was so bad if the x10 is a more expensive phone etc. and with no argument I got 600 mins, unlimited data+e-mail,unlimited txts with the desire at £19.99 for a total of £29.36(weird figure I know) over 18 months. If I wasnt so impulsive and desperate for the phone probably could have pushed for free phone but was fairly happy with the deal.
Sorry for the long winded reply but basically what I'm saying is it seems to depend on who you get on the other end of he phone,if you dont get what you want hang up,do a bit of research on other deals, then call back again.

Well seeing as it is you have a HTC am assuming you are already aware of xda developers forum which is very good for these phones and just incase you are not aware of xda just Google them and go look for the desire forum under accessories you wil find a good discussion going on the accessories.
