Broad Beans

Hi All,
After a very succesful trip to Mr A's last night where i picked up lots of lovely whoopsied items I got a bit carried away in the veg aisle and bought a huge bag of reduced broad beans. Only on the way home when OH was praising my frugal ways did it occur to me I had some how mistaken them for green beans (clearly they look nothing like them but in my tired state I'd looked at them and decided they were something else entirely!).
Does anyone have any nice recipes I could use them in? I thought they might be nice in a salad of some description but given last night's escapades I may be going mad here!
Thanks in advance0 -
Risottos, broad bean and feta cheese salad, soup (but they're much nicer just blanched than cooked down when they're raw. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Hi nicoc,
Fresh broad beans are delicious raw in salads or just lightly steamed and eaten as a veg.

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together0 -
I had some left from last year in the freezer - so I lightly cooked them, cooled them down & made up some humous with them (coz you can do it with any bean/pea).
I think I left out the tahini, or only put a wee bit in.
It was delicious! (looked pretty too).

Yes, you can. I'm sure the Greeks cook broad beans in a tomato and garlic sauce. Yummy!
If you can't find a way of using them all up in recipes I daresay you could freeze them on trays and then once frozen store in a bag or container.0 -
How about some of these recipes? There's one for briad-bean houmous on the VegBox one. I rather fancy the risotto one.
