  • Do any of you folks have a breadmaker - necessity or another useless gadget? We spend a fortune on bread.

  • Hi RMC, I have just read all of your diary in two sittings, and have been fantisizing about apple and blueberry pies with piping hot custard!! I love your writing- really funny and very readable, and I think we must do a similar kind of job- I'm not a qualified social worker but I do social work.

Hopefully once you have caught up with the business debts, you will be on top of the income- you have cleared a great big chunk off your debts already since the start of the diary! xx

Thankyou Luckystepho. I would send you a pie but they dont travel well! So please do have a cyber one on me!

I know in residential SW the pay rates are very similiar wether qualified or not and those of my colleagues who are not qualified don't have to 'put their name' to legal documentation and are convinced that alone makes the pennies in diff pay rates very worthwhile. I have toyed for a while about returning to residential childcare (not sure where you work) as the money is great and the hours are preferrable (for my life anyway as I have so much to do re business I would like not to work 9-5 and would like the idea of getting my work done in 4 days in a week)

But for now I will stick with working with kids in care rather than joining their homes!

I am also working hard on positive thinking - we are coming up to 'danger week' (it was this time last month I had my champagne and meltdown moment!) Thus I will stay positive.

I am still trying to work out if I am broke or skint...........skint is probably more positive but some day soon I will have enough to do the things I want to do and actually each month of this journey I have done more and more of the things I want to do. Because right now I want to pay my debts and I am doing that so 'all's good in the 'hood! :D

  • More advice required (still waiting on opinions on breadmaker)

It is my sisters' bday on Friday (right in the middle of Danger Week) and I have zero pennies (well I could use the £26 I have saved for Xmas but that kinda defeats the purpose) so I had a thought. She is a single mum and also self employed thus constantly chasing herself and also, because of some stuff outside her control, her mood is quite low at the moment. Anyway I thought I could give her vouchers, but of a different sort. Vouchers for my time.

    EG. A voucher for
    An Hours Ironing x 2
    Downstairs windows cleaned
    Babysitting x 2
    Oven and Fridge clean
    Wardrobe Tidy
And One for 2 hours and she can choose whichever mingin' job she wants.

What do you think? Am I just presenting as a miser because remember I will be giving her this and then clearing off to Dublin for the night (so not that skint, she might think)
