  • Thanks for the virtual pie- was yummy!! I work with the over 65's, assessing for care packages etc. There's quite a difference between pay for qualified and unqualified workers, but the social workers have to take on much more complicated cases (in theory!) and take on all safeguarding work. We have all lost the extra payment we received each month for using our cars for work though due to Government cuts!

I think that the voucher idea for your sis is excellent and I'm sure she will understand. I know I would. Here's hoping you manage to get through danger week- bit of a danger week for me too and got a friend's birthday... there's always something isn't there!!
  • We still get our car allowance - thank God!

Assessing for care packages is hard work, sometimes you know they need it and you also know they won't get it. I love the 'complicated' cases for SW only, LMAO, rarely it only gets complicated when you get into the case history and by that stage its yours anyway (well that was my experience before I qualified!) Had a much more interesting job before I qualified but then govt policy was that everyone caring for children should be qualified and they done away with lots of Band 5 jobs ..............and lo and behold where are we going now, back to social care jobs and away from SW jobs - swings and roundabouts I guess!

    Yes there is always something!

Evening RED loving the positive attitude at the start of THAT week.
I dont have a breadmaker but whilst on my diet I have cut out bread and im sure its made a huge difference, and if I had one I dont think I could resist warm buttered bread so a definate no no for me.
Loving the voucher idea as a single mum im sure she would love a bit of time off and some help you could make some vouchers up on the computer.
    How did ebay do ?

NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Vouchers it is then!

Ebay went wonderfully. I wanted £5 per item which would have totalled £120 and I made £112.17 so totally chuffed. Some of course sold for more than £5 and some for less but it balanced out well.

So now I have the money to pay for tickets if we don't win them in the raffle. We have also entered 3 competitions, so hopefully, fingers crossed, cosmically ordered and all that jazz.

Spending money to find now but of course the VAT return will come tomorrow and all will be well!

  • On Hypno's diary this weekend there was a lot of chat about toxins and how we need to eliminate these from our lives.............be they physical or emotional.

I mentioned that procrastination was my major problem and Macgirl kindly sent me this weeks email for the subscribers to flylady (not on here, the actual website) She was writing about MOI!!

So tonight I have done what she suggested..........

I have bathed.............and put lotion on and even a hint of tan on my face and arms

Laid out ALL my clothes for the morning, thus having time to put some thought into what I am wearing and managed to come up with an ensemble I haven't worn before

Packed my bag with necessary bits

This is to ensure that my morning rituals are calm and organised and not panicky and stressful. The aim being that I arrive at work on time and feeling good because I am well dressed, with styled hair and make-up because I have taken the time to do prepare and not my usual slap the muck on and brush hair in carpark story.

Not only should this result in less morning stress but also that I have a positive image about myself and therefore will project the same to others, which can only bring me joy and happiness, right?

    Hi Reddie,

I think the vouchers sound like a good idea: I think they would give her a hand, which must be badly-wanted sometimes. Do them on really pretty paper, and preferably with cool little sayings on them ('a stitch in time saves nine', 'many hands make light work' and 'party like it's 1999' on the babysitting ones), and she will be chuffed!

As for breadmakers, we have one - the Panasonic SD254. I really like it as the quality of the bread is high, and the loaves are big in comparison to the other breadmakers I have seen (although smaller than the ones you normally get from the shop) It does lots of different types of bread (including fruit loaves, chocolate bread etc. but I've not had it long enough to experiment with those yet), and according to just about everyone I have encountered, is considered the best breadmaker out there. (Check out the numerous threads on the forum.) I think they've recently brought out a newer version, so I'm not sure what that's like. We have the version with the nut dropper hatch, so if we make seeded bread/cakes, it can drop it in for us and we don't have to be there to do it. It's not cheap, but we had another breadmaker at the house that was given to mum as a present and it was rubbish by comparison. If you are going to get one, I think that this is one gadget not worth skimping on as if the bread's bad quality you won't eat it, but you will save money if you use it consistently.

    Hope that helps. :)
