But, although I have 1000 monkies jumping up and down in my tummy, I am calmer today.............what can I do...........nothing, except get my act together and get ready for September

Exactly, you have a clear plan of action for September and you can't change anything that has already happened.

Have you looked into a DMP? Would the length of time it would take to clear it using this method and the loss of control not frustrate you?

I'm not against them at all, I just feel you have been making good progress on your own and it's better to plodding on if you can.

I spoke to DH last night about DMP, and he said pretty much same as you - we have come too far to go back. We are nearly over the major hump so we should keep going.

I really wanted business debt gone by end of September and it's not going to happen. But on the plus side, it will also stop us getting into this agony again. So for my mental health, we will take another month to pay business debts.

I have a new goal - to get on even keel - i.e. make ALL minimum payments and reduce business debt (inc o/d) by Christmas - not September. In January I will start on overpayments if it is feasible..............I just need to breathe!

Again - no increase in debt because my ebay etc will cover those.

And for irony - we got charges today for the quarter - £108.17 for deposit/withdrawl to bank. The joy of business accounts - fee's regardless of account status. We would be charged the same if we didn't have an o/d!!!

That seems very sensible, you have done brilliantly so far at reducing the debt, now take a breather and concentrate on being able to meet minimum payments and keep everyone happy before setting off to chip away at the debt again.

I do sympathize on the bounced cheques, I remember the awful sinking feeling that we have upset our suppliers and been charged for the process. One ba****d bank bounced the same cheque 6 times and charged us £30 each time.

Fingers crossed for lots of lovely cheques in the post today.

It is so frustrating waiting for money and I feel such a failure for letting this ever happen - I can blame no-one but ourselves for this mess and as hard as I try to climb out of it, I keep getting dragged back down again in this unforgiving mess.

DH has the right attitude - he just said 'well there is nothing we can do about it, sh*t happens, and it will be fine by the end of the week!" - wish I could be so easy going

Actually, not, Reddie: that's how you guys ended up in this mess in the first place. Getting out of it is really, really hard, but if you hadn't stopped thinking like DH, you never would have started to get out of it in the first place: you would just still be plummeting to oblivion.

I'm just waiting for OH to have his LBM and help you out. :( Can you not MAKE him sit down and look at the paperwork with you to see why you are getting so frustrated?

Oh Helen it is horrible and I hate it but it is done. You, of all people, know the frustration of trying to get money in and at the same time pay for raw materials up front. It is very very hard to manage and even harder when my salary does not cover our minimum payments.

Bouncing a chq 6 times - thats horrendous. What frustrates me is that some youngster is sitting at a computer, with no business savvy or decision making power, and just pressing buttons, which can in turn put someone under. Gone are the days of the local branch manager having any power!

I did talk to him very seriously last night and his solution is always the same - he needs to get more business in to increase profit. But he works incredible hours as it is and the bakery is becoming too small to cope with the workload. I would prefer slow and steady til we turn a corner. Somewhere in the middle is where we need to get to.

He is a lot better re money than he was before....but not too sure he is 'here' yet.
