Did you look at the link I gave you? Anything within your price range?

Yes, had a look - they advertise as up to £400 a week but that is for 2 people - they are £97 a night for us (family of 5).

Ayr is 36 miles from Glasgow Airport - so do-able. Taxi for 5 unless we can get a bus there at 9:30pm Friday night.

Go to Paisley train station which is just near the airport. Buy a day tripper ticket and you'll get there at a low cost.

Just looked at the trains from Paisley station - there are late trains to Ayr.

    :T:T

Now, got to find a place for 5 of us -good public transport links, around £350 for the week. Before I search can anyone tell me if it's easy to get from Ayr to Glasgow/Edinburgh?
  • OOOH, have seen some places a lot cheaper than Glasgow City Centre (so far only sleeps 4 but they might let us add 1 more).

Is there much to do in Ayr? I should look myself I know - sorry - been a hectic day today.

It's relatively easy to get from Ayr to Glasgow - there's a bus which takes about an hour, I think. You wouldn't want to do that trip every day though. There isn't a massive amount to do in Ayr, but it's OK. It has a beach and shopping, and there are quite a lot of decent places to go on day trips around that area.

Another alternative would be to go a bit north, up to Loch Lomond area. Balloch is on the train line to glasgow - about half an hour on the train in. There you have various watersports on the Loch, walking, pubs etc.
  • I'm quite getting used to the idea of Ayr - must be the beach lol (wonder if it will be as warm as Malaga lol lol).

I have emailed a couple of apartments - saw 2 that sleeps 6 that looked lovely.

I really must take time to work out where all these places are.

Someone said it would seem more of a holiday if there was a beach - which is true - and I have this horrible feeling that if we stay in Glasgow it will be just walking around shops a lot which is what I want to avoid.
  • Hi, have found this, you have to enquire about prices but it says near the train station, town centre and beach.
