Anyone know Cambuslang
I started a thread the other day
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2267459&highlight=glasgow
It's quite long so if you don't want to read it the end result is that myself, husband and 3 sons may be wanting to stay in Cambuslang for a week in October.
Just wanted to ask what you all thought of the place if you know it and if it's a good base fro Glasgow+other Scottish places.
Many thanks.

Cambuslang is in the southside and isn't a particularly great area to be honest. If you're wanting to stay in Glasgow, I'd recommend the city centre, west end, Shawlands, Dennistoun (if there's anywhere there).0

We don't drive and need to be near public transport.
The central Glasgow apartments seem to be £500 for 5 of us - they are really beautiful places but really all we want is clean, around £350, good tv signal in the evenings (a couple of the reviews says tv signal poor - no good for the kids), a kitchen so we can cook food.
Have ruled out Travelodges because the cleanliness (from reviews) seems to be a bit hit and miss.0 -
Hi
I live 20 minutes from Cambuslang. Do you have an address/post code. The reason I ask is that in Cambuslang there are really really bad bits and some fantastic newly built bits (quite posh). If you give me some more info I could help you out. Is it a private rent for a week?Come ride with me, through the veins of history...

Well, the area where Westcoats is is quite rural, but sits near a main road where a regular bus service will take you into Glasgow City Centre every 10 minutes. It's very reliable. If you head north from there you'll be in Glasgow City Centre in around 20 minutes, head south on the same road (same bus service, 18, 16 or 20) you'll reach East Kilbride (where I live!
) in about 10 minutes or so. If you stay in Cambuslang you will definitely not suffer from lack of transport getting in and out of the city (it's extortionate to park in Glasgow City Centre anyway).
I'll have a scout about and see what's happening in the city the week you're here.
I really hope you'll enjoy Glasgow, I think it's a fantastic city!Come ride with me, through the veins of history...
