Stumbled here having just Googled 'noisy Samsung fridge freezer'!
We have an RSH1DBBP which works fine but is very loudly buzzing lots of the time which seems to have got progressively worse over the last few months. I entered our s/n into the Samsung site and it says our product is not affected by the recall.
It's less than 2 years old.
Should we just perform the defrosting job explained earlier or are there grounds to contact Samsung?0 -
Just in case anyone wants to know...
Freezer model RL33 or shown as RL333BNS inside the door
Last night it was making a terrible buzzing and clicking. Left unpowered for 12 -16 hours normally does the trick but this time no joy. Sounded like the motor going and all the 5 lights kept flashing. This sounded alot more desperate this time and it was looking like a write off.. Had seen some semi expensive kits for sorting the prob but was looking how much the trade of in cost might be.
Decided what the hell lets unplug it and unscrew the panel inside the freezer at the back. The rest pulls off ( 1 section ) fairly easily.
Checked the fan was spinning ok, no probs. Then saw what looks like a little black square flap with some clear plastic edging ( sure I read about this elsewhere too ). Turned it over 1/2 a turn, very stiff to start with but be gentle and it moves fairly easily. Looks like ice had made it stick ( wish I took pics now ) but after some gentle turning its fine. Plugged back in with the panel off ( stood well back) and watch the little flap spin over and over like it should then close. Panel refited with plug off.
Been 2 hours now. No flashing warning lights, drinks placed in freezer gone very cold, no grinding, buzzing, nowt. Silent! :j
Moral, have a go, 5 mins to save a costly engineer or new fridge.
Hope that help someone.

Hi All
New to this forum, so bear with me.
I've been reading through all of the posts and thought i'd add my comments too.
We bought a Samsung Fridge Freezer (RSH1NBRS) about 3 years ago.
Roughly 18 months to 2 years after the purchase was when we noticed things going wrong.
Major noise from the Fridge Freezer, temparture in Fridge getting higher and higher, ice in the compartment etc etc
Anyway, long story short, we contacted Samsung last year and asked for assistance.
Still waiting!
They promised us an engineer - they never arrived!
Then all of a sudden, Samsung said "oh, its out of warranty now"
Another year has passed, and the thing is still not working properly.
I decided to strip it down myself today, and after 2 hours of thawing out the fan, i've now got it back working - for now!
However, the most worrying thing is, i had noticed a burning smell coming from it a few days ago and a found the cause.
The back panel, behind the cooling element had melted and cracked the back of the fridge body!
There was also rust on the cooling assembly.
I've e-mailed them again today and stated that i'm going to my lawyer, but i'm not holding out for much response.
I HAVE NEVER MET A COMPANY WITH SUCH BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES AS SAMSUNG, AND WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THEM - EVER.
Sorry for the rant

Hi BigG1999
Please look at my previous posts. We went back to Samsung and used the Sales of Goods Act stating that the f/f was not fit for its purpose etc. After having an independant engineers report done Samsung agreed to pay out for a new machine (taking into account depreciation). They paid for the report, loss of food and also the telephone calls and time taken in sorting out the mess. I've now got a Daewoo f/f.
Good Luck0 -
I rang Samsung about 10 days ago
All other Samsung products :
0330 SAMSUNG (7267864)
Monday - Saturday: 9am - 6pm
Sunday: CLOSED
Told them about the problem, fridge not getting cold, regular defrosting then same problem a few weeks later. I said I has checked the internet and that I know it was a common problem/fault and it had been on watchdog.
Engineer is fixing it now, free of charge:T. Fridge is well out of warranty, its one of the black American side by side jobs.
Hope this helps0 -
Sorry guys I'm new to forums and am not at all technical so please do bear with me and read on and help if possible....
My "Americal Style" Samsung SR-S2029 Freezer doesn't keep down to -22dC all the time and warms up to -8dC, also the fridge doesn't seem to cool as well. I've had to turn off water to the Ice Making Compartment as the Ice was melting down and water was leaking from water dispensing hole!
Domestic & General Insurance Company have quoted £15/month to fix it/service it and I would need to keep their policy going for 12 months (as they will give warranty on repairs for 12 months), so total cost £180.
My worry is calling someone out will be about £55 call out charge plus hourly labour charge of £25/hr and costs of parts (which they may not be able to get as apparantly Samsung ONLY distribute their parts through the "recognised repairers/distributors" at a much higher cost overall. These are actual costs according to a local engineer).
I'm not at all technical and have had it for almost 7yrs and am not sure if its worth getting it repaired which might be quite costly. Can anyone suggest a cheap/er solution PLEASE, (IF THERE IS ONE!!!)?
HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE WILL BE ABLE TO GUIDE ME AND COME UP WITH SOLUTION/S. THANKS IN ADVANCE.0 -
Well I finally got a response from Samsung after tons of calls and emails got me nowhere I sent a letter to them. they offered to repair it free if it was caused by one of the known 6 parts.
the engineer came today and said its the compressor (although he didn't even look at it) and that that wasn't covered.
samsung have offered to pay the labour but will not cover the part so I'm left having to pay £130+Vat!
I havent tried to claim for the spoiled food (twice) and for the small FF that I have had to buy to keep food cool during the summer (my FF broke down in June)!
Terrible customer service from Samsung and I will not buy another product from them.
My FF was bought Dec 2008 and is the RSA1 model so not their 'known' problem but still the same issues. It originally failed in Dec 2010 so lasted just 2 years!0 -
5 year old RS21 model. Fridge not working and the fridge temp light flashing. I phoned samsung and they said they will modify the fridge free of charge as there is a known fault with these models. Their service centre will call within 24 hours to arrange when.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
