Cannot abide the taste of aspartame, irrespective of any health worries. As a result I can't drink it therefore the following applies...

    Squash.

The only squashes I can drink are "High Juice" or Sainsburys Own Brand (which seems to be the only regular squah without it). Robinsons are are among the worst (such a shame as I used to love their orange barley water).

    Cola.

No worries with full fat Pepsi or Coke, of the own brands only Sainsbury's has no aspartame (but has a lame aftertaste anyway). Virgin Cola is Ok as is RedBull cola and others such as fentimans or my current favourite "Ubuntu Cola".

    Lemonade.

Tesco Premium, Sainsburys Classic lemonade, Morrisons Finest Sicilian Lemonade. (None of the "branded" lemonades seem to be Aspartame free!)
Also recently Tesco seem to have dropped aspartame from their "Blue labelled" regular lemonade which is almost certainly the cheapest drinkable non-aspartame pop now available!

Sprite and 7-up are still safe to drink.

    Others

The only Orangeades withour aspartame seem to be Morrisons Finest Ruby Orange Crush, Orangina and M&S Florida Orange Crush.

Avoid all Tango and Fanta products like the plague.

Cherryades and Limeades seem to be loaded with aspartame although Tesco do 1 litre bottles of Key Lime and Morello Cherry Soda which are pricey but very nice (and often with the mixers).

    Most Ginger Beers seem ok.

Barr's premium drinks such as Irn Bru and Tizer are ok, as are their retro "Barr's Originals" range.

Dr Pepper is also Aspartame free.

It is worth noting that any "Diet" versions of the above drinks will contain aspartame, but it is infuriating the amount of non-diet drinks that are loaded with the stuff.

Supermarkets do change their ingredients from time to time so keep on checking the labels. Sainsbury's Classic Cola used to taste similar to the "big names" when it was first launched but now tastes awful, and one of my recent favourites "tesco pink lemonade" was originally flavoured with sugar but was abruptly changed to an aspartame recipe acouple of years back so I can't drink it anymore.

Cheers for that usol! I love fizzy orange, and still miss Fanta, so will give the M&S one a try.

Aspartame just has the most vile after taste, and I still don't see why it has to be in the full fat products.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Have a look at this. It's very scathing, lol!

    I like the quote:

"Splenda is not even on the food chain."
The Sacramento Bee, October 14, 2004 , Dan Vierria

Had a look at this website describing the evils of Splenda "Do you know what your children are eating?" and noticed this small print at the bottom...

"This website is part of an effort to educate consumers about the chemical artificial sweetener Splenda and is provided by The Sugar Association, which represents sugar beet and sugar cane farmers across America."

Hmmmm..... a university study, commissioned and funded by a sugar industry lobbying group. Would like some more impartial information to be honest.

Sucralose is NOT made from sugar either! The got fined a lot of money for that blatant lie. The purposefully called it sucralose so that it was similar to sucrose! Devious eh?
In the scientific sense, sucralose is a carbohydrate (i.e. a sugar). It isn't sugar that you get from a plant but it certainly is a type of sugar. The reason for the name is simple: it is a modified version of sucrose. It is even made by adding chlorine to sucrose that you would get naturally.

thank god there are others out there like me!! I absolutely detest the taste of artificial sweeteners. I take sugar in my tea and drink regular coke ( I HATE when people call it "fat coke") I get an ear full from my sisters (Diet coke addicts) about why don't you switch you'll get used to it and all that nonsense. Its like saying to a carnivore "why don't you eat veggie sausages its the same you'll get used to it." NO ITS NOT!! I like real food i like butter that is made from cream and a touch of salt and thats it. I refuse to eat the fake ( i don't mean own brand I mean artificially produced) versions of stuff, there is a difference no matter what the ad companies say.

I think the main point here is not if a sweetener additive etc has been proven to be bad or not, it is that if a customer has doubts and does not want to use products with certain additives because of a risk factor (and I class myself as one), then they have the right to make that choice and not have ignorant manufacturers try to class them as stupid because they have doubts about the safety of artificial additives. It is up to them to prove 100% safety via independant research. not the consumer to prove their doubt. BTW could be of intrest to the argument, I got diagnosed with severe rheumatiod arthritis 4 years ago and put on immuno suppresants that helped to cut 80% of the effects but still had a lot of pain, I have since cut out all additives to food and drink aand now only eat and drink fresh ingredients, I now have full mobility, no pain and feel better than I have for years, The other week I for the first time in 4 yrs had a burger from McD, within 1 hr I had vomited 3 times, had the shakes, severe pain in my joints and had the sweats, my friend had same burger but none of this, 100% pure my !!!!, my friend has since given up his daily intake of this junk after seeing my reaction and is feeling the benifit of it.
