i am sure she said it was asparthame (???) that is put in drinks because it makes you thirsty and makes you want more.
maybe my memory is playing tricks but i am sure thats what she said.
A reliable witness indeed.0 -
I too avoid aspartame, like many others I choose to avoid it. I don't like the taste and I know the long term effects to myself and my dependants from consuming sugarFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
i know a guy who says aspartame is a mind control drug used to control the masses
he could just be a nutter thoughsquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -
I had a bottle of Fanta for the first time in years last month, only had a few mouthfulls then dropped it back in my handbag. Twenty minutes later the pains started. When I checked the Fanta label it had Aspartame listed. I'm sure it didn't have before
I have to be really careful with chewing gum and mints too. If anyone here is allergic to Asprin, then it's a very similar pain.
Ahh well, Water is keeping me healthier lol0 -
But getting back to the original subject, I'd much rather have a selection of drinks that have sugar as the sweetener and I think that if drinks change to sweeteners when they've used sugar previously, it should be blatantly obvious on the front label.0

The thing that triggers alarm bells for me is the calorie content! If a can has 40 calories in then it has sweeteners in. A can of coke (full sugar) has about 140 calories in.
Fanta in Spain is made with sugar, just got back from The Canaries a week ago, it's warm there!
Also when you see (mostly on kids' drinks ie Fruit Shoots et al) it might say "No Artificial Flavours or Preservatives" which means it does contain Artificial sweetener, otherwise it would say so......0 -

I picked up a multipack of R Whites Lemonade cans and noticed that the calorie content looked quite low. So looked at the ingredients and there it said Aspartame.
I used to favour R Whites over Schweppes but now they are both as bad as eachother.
Like several non-diet drinks (Lilt, Tango, Fanta) they now use sweetener rather than sugar because it is cheaper than sugar and also so the calorific figure is lower. So people not aware of Aspartame are more likely to buy it rather than a higher calorie version. Please leave diet drinks as diet drinks and sugar based drink as such.
Note I don't drink loads of pop, so when I do I don't want artificial sweeteners.
I have noticed the same. I don't like fizzy drinks with artificial sweetners either. If i fancy a fizzy drink , i now drink 7up which does not contain sweetners. I think Sprite also does not contain sweetners either.Amazon No:170
