clutton wrote:hi EL - i have just met an old friend who is a VAT inspector - and THEY certainly know how to track down people ! i summarised your situation, and his response was "sometimes people get away with name changing/address changing for years, and sometimes we never catch up with them. "
Probably because no-one "grasses" these people up to HM Customs & Revenue?
From what I've seen so far I would DEFINITELY drop HM C&R an anonymous note with ALL of the name varieties and addresses you have. It must be an odds-on certainty they'd be very interested in her.
Remember that a lot of these crooks often finally only get sent down on tax irregularities, rather than their other misdeeds - like Al Capone!!0 -
i have grassed one pig of a guy - no names no packdrills !!!!!!!!0

Hi EagerLearner, just a quick message to say I think you've acted with complete dignity during the course of this process and in light of your redundancy. Also the support shown by the other MSEs has been amazing, a credit to the website.0

Thanks Noz and Clutton and Edna Bucket - have enjoyed a day off work and back to reality tomorrow, when I will go up to the court and give them that address.
This week have to buy my brothers birthday presents on behalf of the rest of the family, and buy my mum's birthday presents on behalf of my family! Then post off my mum's to Portugal... Didn't need it right now but everyone has so much to do and I am more internet-aware... thank God for Amazon and E-bay, with whom I have bought half the stuff already!
Thanks also for the ongoing votes for post of the month - it makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside!MFW #185

my suggestion would be drop off the address to the court, spend this week doing family stuff, research for your new exciting self-employment - and - dont even think about "her" and then next week come back to it, and see how it sits with you. We all need a rest from stressful events for a while.0

I've just spent a couple fof hours reading this thread (sorry, boss!) afterr seeing it referred to in the "Post of the Month" thread.
I'm inspired by EL's persistance to get justice, and by the help and support she has received from a host of MSNers. This is a great example of everythin that's great about this forum. Well done, everybody.0 -

Thanks for your vote for post of the month Mickey and you are right it's testament to everyone on here and the help they've so willingly given :T :T :T
I am not going to take the address to the court just yet as I want to see if she has the cheek to return the recent court summons letter to the court unopened - ie: the one same she will have received when we received ours stating we have won the judgement. If we are advised by the court that she has sent her copy of the judgement back, we will immediately tell them about supposed new address. I think this is the best route because she MAY not have moved at all and the last address be the real one. This would mean she DID get the court summons letter - as of yet no letter from court to say the letter to her bounced back. I hope all that made sense!MFW #185

"For 'tis the sport to have the enginer / Hoist with his owne
petar" -- Shakespeare, Hamlet III iv.
Hoist" was in Shakespeare's time the past participles of a verb "to hoise", which meant what "to hoist" does now: to lift. A petard (see under "peter out" for the
etymology) was an explosive charge detonated by a slowly burning fuse.
If the petard went off prematurely, then the sapper (military engineer; Shakespeare's "enginer") who planted it would be hurled into the air by the explosion. (Compare "up" in "to blow up".) A modern rendition might be: "It's fun to see the engineer blown up with his own bomb."
wouldn't you just like to see "Mrs Danvers" foisted !!!!0
