She's one stupid woman. I don't think I would even allow her to get the small amount you think you owe her. It would be good to get a ccj on her, as that will really stuff her up for buying any more properties.

Just noticed at the end of the post that there was no room for expenses - did you file on line? After reading on https://www.ConsumerActionGroup.co.uk a lot of the threads, I gather that to be able to put expenses on you file at the Court - at least that's the impression I got. I spend a lot of time reading on the other site, as well (it is endorsed by Martin Lewis), and I think that is why I lost your thread previously, as I thought I had seen it on there.
  • Hiya - truth is, now it's filed, I don't know when I clain for expenses - I remember being told that got left to 'later' and first put in what the base amount is + court fees?

    That's a shame.
  • ...In my heart of hearts, we MAY owe her around £80 and I'd have been ok with her deducting £120 or even £150...

Tough on her. All bets are off once you are forced to start proceedings - any offer you might have been willing to make before this started is rescinded. As she wasn't willing to be conciliatory in any way, what you might have been willing to offer in an amicable settlement is immaterial, and now you go for the whole amount back.

When we had our recent problem it was made clear that our offer was a final one, and that it would be rescinded if we had to start Court action.

    Any update eagerlearner?
  • Hi all - still nothing from the courts or from LA/Landlady side.

I am guessing it will still be a week or two - I can honestly say that any money we get out of this is worth it - it's such a long process, and she seemingly gets away with ignoring it! We have to make a stand but sometimes it feels like we're wading through quicksand.

there are minimum set time-frames for the various parts of the process, and each court has additional built in delays depending on how many judges they have, and how many cases they are looking at. Patience my little kitten !!!!!

Hello EagerLearner - I'm a bit of a latecomer to this thread but have just sat and read through it all, gasping in horror at how horrible the landlady has been. I'm sorry it has been such a long drawn-out process for you, but the end is in sight now, don't give up - will be keeping up with your progress and can't wait to read the post that says 'woo-hoo, I got my money back'!!

  • Thanks Snaggles - I know there's light at the end of the tunnel... but sometimes, it does feel as if it's an oncoming train!

Clutton - thank you ;o) - I'm learning to not think about it too much and let the system do it's thing... a bit worried about how I claim for all the expenses tho - will have to ask the court.
