I'd shop em too OP!
I'm sick of paying my tax keeping people who are unlawfully on benefits etc... and working off the cards!
I'm all for earning a few extra quid, but when blatently operating as a business it just not fair.
Although, (I apologise if Im wrong as Im quite a newbie to all this) would the seller not have to have a business account to withdraw over £500 a month on paypal? ...or is being a business seller on ebay and having a premium acc on paypal two seperate things??0 -

You can be verified whether you are a business or a indivdual. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
Personally i couldnt care if somebody is making a few quid on the side, after taking the time and effort to research, buy, list, sell and post, i would be more concerned over the many more who are prepared to sit on their backsides and expect those of us who do work and pay taxes to provide for them, just my personal opinion.
Those people aren't costing you as much as those who fiddle their taxes :j0 -
what exactly are they selling? i mean how can you be sure they're not just very good at decluttering or selling on behalf of friends? I know a lot of my friends are too lazy to set up their own accounts so ask others to sell for them..?0

Obviously the moment they take a cut of the proceeds they are trading so would need to be registered as a business anyway. Also of course it must be remembered that one of the frequently abused 'trades' is second hand goods sourced from car boots and charity shops, so HMRC are very likely to take an interest in sellers who sell a lot of second hand things in varying sizes and styles. Recently one of our regulars asked for advice on behalf of their sister who had received the 'dreaded letter' for doing just that.
Anyway the thread does state this this seller is selling multiples of the same items every day anyway.
As a general remark I have been quite surprised at the amount of people saying that this shouldn't be reported for whatever reason, it makes me think that there are a lot more undeclared business sellers out there than I thought. Sorry, where did I say this shouldn't be reported? I'm not entirely sure why you've quoted my post here as my reply was just questions for the OP and not my opinion?0 -

I didn't, I said "As a general remark I have been quite surprised at the amount of people saying that this shouldn't be reported for whatever reason,"
I quoted your post to say that even if they were selling for friends they would still be at risk either because they took a cut which would make them liable to register as self employed, or because they fit the model of trading by selling a large variety of second hand goods.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Why is it that when I quote people thei user name comes up merely as exclamation marks, what am I doing wrong? It doesn't seem to happen for other people when they quote.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They are selling multiple copies of the same handmade items. They are not decluttering and selling their own used goods. They are buying and selling on the same account also.0
